First off, the sake was fantastic – perfectly chilled and served fresh from the bottle. The miso soup was also a standout dish, with a rich, savory broth that was the perfect starter to my meal.
Next up, the edamame was cooked to perfection – not too soft, not too hard – and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. And the sushi! Wow. The rolls were expertly crafted, with fresh, high-quality fish and perfectly cooked rice. I especially loved the spicy tuna roll.
But what really stood out to me about Nama was the value. With so many sushi restaurants charging exorbitant prices, it was refreshing to find a spot where I could enjoy such great food without breaking the bank.
Overall, I highly recommend Nama Sushi Bar to anyone looking for a delicious, affordable sushi experience. You won’t be disappointed!
Food was alright but why does it take 30 mins to make 10 pieces of nigiri? Waitress definitely didn’t like or care for her job.
Waste of money, sighs
It didn’t get any better when we were sat next to the window, where we could admire dead flies on the inside window sill.
When we lifted our water glasses, they stuck to the table and required a jerk to pick them up. Not a good start.
Although we were the only table in at the start of the night, our server seemed distracted and rushed every word out of their mouth.
Regarding the food, the ‘Namaste’ roll and the Hamachi small plate were notable. The rest (Chef’s Selection, crispy shrimp roll, over-dressed Crab and Cucumber salad) were middle of the road- meaning that none of them really “popped,” and at that price point, one does expect the flavors to the there.
For the price, there are much better options in DC for sushi, sashimi and rolls.
I had the eel & cucumber roll, the spicy tuna & avocado roll and the crispy shrimp tempura & avocado roll. My friends also got the vegan BBQ roll and the tuna avocado roll.
All in all, we liked our meal. The rolls were good, if not great, and the price (at least for happy hour) was right. The service was solid. I’d certainly come again for happy hour though it wouldn’t be my first choice for a non-happy hour sushi dinner.
The miso was very flavorful and contained more mushrooms and onion in it then I’m used to which added to its overall experience.
