Today after having some fun at the Sylvan Beach with my family, we decided to grab a bite at ~Cinco De Mayo~ Mexican restaurant.

Hands down the best Birria tacos I have had in a long time. Fresh and cooked to perfection. Even the sauces were delish. Highly recommend them!!

From first sit down the server was rude. He threw menus and straws at us. Gave us our two drinks and then took our orders and literally just kept walking away with zero interaction. Then came and threw the bill on the table. Not one time did he give me the option to explain that the margarita he brought me tasted awful with no tequila.
Then when I asked for the drink to be removed as I had not drank it, he said that “he can’t take things off the bill without the owner there” and then proceeded to bring me his phone where the owner screamed through his phone at me about drinking the drink then wanting it off the bill. It was clear the drink was barely touched. I work in a service environment and this was by far the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Not to mention the worst margarita ever.
Do not go spend your money here.

It was my family’s first time here and it was just okay. We were bummed to find out that they didn’t have their liquor license yet but that is to be expected with a new business. We were seated promptly and got our drinks/food quickly. There were 4 of us with a toddler and they sat us at a small table with barely any space for all the dishes that were brought out. The shrimp fajitas were disappointing. The vegetables were under cooked and very hard, the beans were bland and you only get 2 small tortilla wraps for a whole bunch of food. My boyfriend’s chicken and steak fajitas were not good. The chicken and steak were overcooked, dry and almost uneatable because of all the char on them. Also his vegetables were hard and undercooked. The rice was good but a little dry. The chips had no taste but the salsa was delicious. We had empty cups the entire time and the server never came back after we got our food to ask if we wanted refills or needed anything else. Overall, pretty disappointed considering they had good reviews.

Let me start by saying how surprised I was to see an authentic Mexican restaurant in a place like Sylvan Beach! The atmosphere is very cool inside with Mexican music playing an overall cool vibe. You get served fresh warm tortillas with the best salsa I’ve ever had, you can taste the freshness in every bite. For those that may be sensitive to heat I’d say unless you have an extremely low tolerance than no worries here, the salsa had just a pleasant heat to it that builds the more you eat but never to a level that’s unpleasant. I had shrimp tacos with a side of beans and rice. The beans were fantastic as was the rice, I loved how simple everything was yet so delicious. The shrimp in my taco was very fresh, cooked perfectly. They were tender and well seasoned, the sauce for my taco brought the whole thing together perfectly. My wife had the chicken fajitas, they came out on a sizzling cast iron skillet. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was tender, juicy and delicious! The peppers and onions were perfectly caramelized. Now you may be asking why not give 5 stars? The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because you only get 2 tiny tortillas with your fajitas, you can see in my pic how much you get with this meal. What are you doing with 2 small tortillas? Of course we asked for more twice because you can make at least 5 fajitas out of this. It made me feel like I was in TGI Fridays, in the future I hope they start you out with at least 4 shells. The service was fantastic, the waiter was very nice and very attentive even though we were the only people in the restaurant Lol. I hope this place does well, I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!

So this is classic north of the border Texas Mexican place. Very authentic even in very minor details. The service is great and CV the food was delivered very quickly. So the food, somewhat bland. The salsa has no flavor. The queso fundido was very good. The chilliquilles were ok but once again very bland. The pollo was also very good but lacked simple Mexican flavor that should pop in your mouth. The Spanish rice was also in need of the flavor doctor. Service as I said was great.

The food was full of flavor. Absolutely delicious. The menu was a little overwhelming for someone like me who likes to try new things. It was hard to choose. Ended up getting the “Burrito Jalisco” deep fried burrito and the “La mi patria” which has three types of enchiladas. Yum! Finished off with deep fried ice cream.

First time dining in and me and my son were the only ones there. Excellent service, the place was pretty cool inside too! Our food was beyond delicious and the chips / salsa were to die for!! 10/10 recommend!

Chips were under salted. Salsa was watery. Margarita was saltier than anything. Huge pieces of fat in the meat.

So happy to have local, DELICIOUS, and authentic Mexican. Our first visit brought a very friendly, attentive staff; quickly served, hot, amazing food; and super reasonable prices. The restaurant was clean and inviting and we can’t wait to go back. We all left stuffed and hope they will be here to stay!

The food was incredible. I ordered an enchilada, chalupa, and quesadilla. The food was fresh and hot like it was just made. The food was very authentic, the atmosphere was great and the prices are very reasonable for home cooked food. The service was spectacular and my waiter Pedro was so kind and accommodating! I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back!
