Very friendly and pizza is alway delicious. I always get the flying tomato. It’s basically a deep dish cheese pizza with a few tomato slices on top. Easy to pick off if you wanted just the cheese pizza only. We get it every time we are passing thru the area.

I’m usually a regular at Wig Pin and the food is solid, but our recent takeout order was really disappointing. The chicken strips were raw in the middle. But I had this issue more than once but I did not bring this to attention until now. I’m hoping this was just a mistake, because I usually enjoy eating here.

I got a bacon chicken ranch pizza and it was the saltiest pizza I’ve ever had. I couldn’t make it past the first slice without a tall glass of water. Now disappointed i had to let the pizza cool and for the cheese to solidify so that I could risen it off in the sink. I threw that baby in the air frier to reheat and it was so fire.

1 star pizza out the box, 5 stars pizza after the rework

Ordered the cheese pizza which they tout as being popular with kids because it is loaded with cheese and cut into strips for dipping. Neither of those were true. There was barely any cheese, NOT cut into strips, it had many large air bubbles in it, and it was cold even though we were there on time, even early. The pizza box wasn’t even warm. It was out first time there. And our last.

I would’ve given them more stars, however, we ordered 2 Chicago Style pizzas & both of their toppings were messed up. We went there on a Wednesday. It wasn’t a terribly busy night like a Monday, Friday or Saturday. We are from out of the area & we were in town for a doctor’s appt. We got the pizzas to have for the next day. So it wasn’t until the next day that we found the mix up. 1 pizza was supposed to have sausage & blk olives & the other one was supposed to have green olives, mushrooms & garlic on half & the other half was only supposed to have mushrooms & garlic. The sausage & blk olive pizza was a cheese only & the green olive, mushroom & garlic also had sausage on it. The other half that was supposed to be just mushrooms & garlic had mushrooms, garlic, blk olives & sausage. We went back into Iowa City again to see a different specialist on Friday & we called to see if they would compensate us for the mix up. The on duty manager expressed a sincere apology & they made us 2 new pizzas.

We had first gone to a different Wig & Pen by the University of Iowa hospital & we thought that the Wig & Pen East would be like the other restaurant. The Wig & Pen East was a pick up only facility. The other Wig & Pen is a sit down restaurant. Since we can’t sit down at the Wig & Pen East & we don’t live locally, we probably won’t stop there again. We wouldn’t want to have the same situation happen again. It was a fluke that we came back into town so quickly. Normally we wouldn’t have been able to “fix the mix up” that quickly. Besides, since it was a Chicago Style pizza (deep dish) the ‘toppings’ are in the inside, not at the top. So you can’t tell what the ingredients are until you remove a piece & look through the cheese. Their food tasted good though.

Ordered food online on Monday 11/4. It was chicken tenders and some other things. The chicken was raw! I called immediately said they would give me a refund. I have yet to see it. Tried calling them today and keep getting “this call needs 10 digits” message even though I’m dialing it correctly. Would really like my money back

Prior to posting this…I reached out to the owners to address this but they chose not to respond. We ordered a pizza as we have many times prior. When we went to pick it up…the front door was propped open and the place was full of flies!! Flies on EVERYTHING!! That included the area where food was prepared!! Needless to say…we will not be returning!! As of the pizza …it was good but as we ate it couldn’t get the thought out of our head about all the flies and had they been on the ingredients that made our pizza??!!

I’ve had pizzas from here a number of times and I’ve never been disappointed, yummy. Because the pizzas are Chicago style, so they take more time to prepare, but worth the wait.

The best Chicago style in the greater Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area! HANDS DOWN! Stuffed spinach and sausage, always with a side of ranch (or 3)

Website says Dine-In but it’s actually Pick -Up only. We ordered and then waited in our car 25-30 minutes. Pizza was fresh and hot. We liked the toppings however the thin crust was very hard and chewy. Will definitely go back and try a different crust.
