The food was better than our last visit. No nonsense establishment that is very popular, so expect to wait to be seated and on your food. Good prices, always pleasant staff.

Went here after hearing they had a good steak. Walking in the door and sat down. Then realized there was another entrance where there was a line waiting. Asked a worker if we were supposed to wait to ne seated. She said no but then gestured towars the line. So got up and joined the line. Stood there forever. Man behind us asked if we were invisible. I agreed with him. There were lots of empty tables. We told the lady it was two of us. She continued amd and cleaned off two different tables before seating us. The food was ok. I did not like the sweet potatoes. The lima beans were very good. Asked for stuffing that was on the board. They said they didnt have any. I pointed to the board that displayed that side. They said oh that’s old from Christmas time and should’ve been down. That board also said mimosa flights were half off for happy hour. Which I had ordered but guess was full price since board was at least 2 weeks old. Our waitress was nice, polite and professional.

Went over the weekend for breakfast. We had to wait to be seated first because they didn’t have silverware and then because they didn’t have clean tables.
Food was okay. Eggs and bacon were good. Grits didn’t have any salt added in and were watery.

Typical breakfast diner but quick and kind service. Prices were amazing! Everything had great seasoning and we’re not Bland. Breading on the Fried Green Tomatoes was a little heavy but still good flavor.

Went here with my mom the other day for lunch. Haven’t been here in yearssss. I’m a vb local and some of my friends say they like Mary’s. My review is strictly on their lunch food. We haven’t had their breakfast before but it does look great in the pictures.
I got the BBQ chicken with collards and Mac and cheese. The Chicken itself was super tender, fall off the bone. The chicken skin was super soggy and I didn’t end up eating it. The collards were homemade but tasted like straight vinegar and not appetizing at all. The bread roll was warm and tastes great. Mac and cheese was just ok. It was 1/2 off pie day (Wednesday’s) and we got 3 different pies to try. The Apple, chocolate cream, and pumpkin. All were good but chocolate was the best, then apple, then pumpkin. My mom had the meat loaf and it was an end piece that was very hard. The meat loaf itself wasn’t the best, but the gravy was great! The worst part was the smell inside the booth we were sitting at. (Third or fourth booth from the back on the right wall.) it smelled terrible. I almost asked to move in the middle of our mean but they were super busy. The rest of the restaurant didn’t smell bad but it was overwhelming over in the booths. Like old wet laundry that sat for a few days. Loved the open diner feel, and you can sit up at the bar. Surf boards hanging, and cool old VB pics on the walls. I really want this to be one of my new spots but the food looks way better than it actually tastes. Will try it one more time with their breakfast food and update.

Had brunch on Sunday – got in just before a crowd so we got a really cute booth spot just in time! It seems like a local favorite so just be aware of a potential wait, it’s worth it. Three main callouts –
1) Shout out to Penelope for the amazing recos and amazing kind and thoughtful service, saw her go from helping people at the bar to jumping to the families at their tables!
2) The breakfast bowl with cubed home fries, spicy chorizo, eggs and cheese was phenomenal and so filling!
3) I’m going to have dreams about the carrot cake slice, there’s a whole cake on display and you WILL want the whole thing
