The restaurant is a casual place and more like a bar. The dining area was clean, and the bathrooms were fine. The staff were helpful and friendly.
I wasn’t hungry, but I could not pass up ordering the Grilled Seabass with shrimp. For the sides, I ordered the collards, and I paid $1 extra for asparagus. We started off with raw oysters, which were fresh and had good flavor. The Gilligan’s Stew is similar to a fish boil or seafood boil. There were plenty of shrimp and sausage. While I was not hungry, I could not bypass ordering the Seabass. I ate the whole fish! It was not overly seasoned, and better yet, it was not fried. The grilled shrimp was seasoned well, and I could eat it tail on.
The value of the food and price were worth it. I paid almost the same amount at a place in Edisto Island and had a quarter of the food. There isn’t a relaxing ambiance, but the food was great.
Each time the waite staff has been extremely helpful and attentive. No matter what else is going on, they always are on point.
The gumbo is very good as are the grouper bites. The flounder is also very good.
I prefer sitting in the enclosed patio area which seems to be more comfortable although I have been inside for dinner as well. Just a different feel.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone.
Has indoor and deck seating. The free Hushpuppies for the table were greasy and taste-less. Popcorn Shrimp & Fries were taste-less. The Tarter Sauce just tasted like Mayo. My husband said his Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was good. Don’t think we’ll go back. Too many other better restaurants around.
