Cute little restaurant with friendly staff. Definitely could use a bit of an update but the atmosphere was overlooked by the food. Hubby searched for a “jalapeno” Burger and it was delivered! Old school for an adorable price! Stop in and give it some love!

The Firehouse Restaurant & Lounge – Florence, OR

Located in the heart of Old Town, The Firehouse has a great setting surrounded by shops and restaurants. The service was friendly and attentive, but the overall experience was “good, not great.”

The ambience feels dated and could use some refreshing, and the two entrees we ordered lacked the flavor we expected. We really wanted to like this restaurant, but the food just didn’t deliver.

That said, its location and service make it worth a try, especially if you stick to their better-known dishes like chowder or burgers.

We came in at the recommendation of a local for the chowder, she said it was the best in town! We came right in between lunch and dinner so it wasn’t busy at all but perhaps they had let all the staff go besides a cook and a server, it was painfully slow! We were just about to get up and leave since we were never approached! The server slowly walked up and with a very heavy sigh said “Is this separate checks?” (there were four of us), then “Okay, what’ll it be?” with pen poised over pad. No greeting, no smile, no communication whatsoever! We ordered a couple bowls of chowder and a shrimp cocktail, nothing too extensive! We finished our waters and soda and waited! And waited! No refills were ever offered, we just patiently waited while chatting. Food was delivered, again, no refills and no conversation with our server. In the end, the chowder is good and the shrimp weren’t still frozen, so all in all, a win I suppose! Won’t return, it’s old, outdated and not near friendly enough for my tastes!

This place was saved from a one-star review by the stellar sweet potato fries. (watch out for that salty ranch though.)

Where do I even begin. To start, the clam chowder was thick and floury And may have been spotted on an episode of “everybody’s so creative.”

If you like a flour-based clam chowder or you’re from Ohio – then this will be your jam. But if you prefer an actual creamy clam chowder, go somewhere else. This was more like a clam-flavored biscuits and gravy without the biscuits.

And the coleslaw. Oh, the coleslaw. If I wanted bagged shredded cabbage mixed with Litehouse processed coleslaw dressing from the grocery store then I would have gotten myself that. Slimy is never a word that I thought I would use to describe coleslaw. But here we are.

The Mr’s burger was straight from the Costco bulk pack, it had reasonable flavor but it was tucked between a dry bun and loaded with an ungodly amount of Vlassic pickle slices.

When the waitress stopped by she asked about our food I told her about the clam chowder situation. Phew! She seemed to take it very personally and loudly said that I was the first person ever in the whole entire world to not like their chowder and that people come from other states to taste the best chowder they have ever had. So if you like to be shouted at, this is definitely your place.

Listen, I’m tired today, I just wanted to enjoy decent food and instead I got chowder-shamed and the joy of nibbling on some grocery store cafeteria coleslaw.

Thank the universe for some sweet potato fries or I would be writing this with a very empty stomach.

We sat outside since dogs are allowed on the patio seats. A local passed by and shared some history of the restaurant, which was fun to hear.
She recommended the deluxe chowder ( i had already ordered the regular, which was good)
I had the cobb salad with chicken (it had a bit of a kick!). My husband ordered chicken Caesar salad ( same type of chx)
The garlic bread was just “ok”
Loved the service and efficiency. I recommend

If you want amazing clam chowder and fish and chips stay away from the waterfront restaurants and cross the street and come here instead.
We had bowls of their amazing clam chowder (best in Florence maybe ) and two orders of fish and chips split for 4. Turned out to be way more food than we needed. The deluxe clam chowder is worth getting with the crab, shrimp, cheese and garlic bread. So good. The fish – wow! Light and crispy breading. Good size pieces. The garlic fries do not disappoint.
Our server was a professional. She paid attention to what we ordered and anticipated that we’d need extra napkins and extra plates and brought those before we even asked. I asked her about the history of the restaurant. My wife could see that she was busy but she still told me the story WHILE cleaning up empty dishes. She never missed a beat. She earned and deserved her tip.
This place is going to be a must stop every time I’m in Florence from now on!

This place really puts the FIRE in Firehouse. The food is unmatched and so tasty. We got the Loaded Mac n Cheese, the Clam Chowder and the French Dip Sandwich and both were to die for. I had garlic fries with my sandwich and let me tell you, as someone who loves garlic, I was very pleased. The meat on my sandwich and the pulled pork on the Mac n Cheese were so tender and delicious. The flavors were absolutely perfect. This place definitely needs more attention, because the food and the prices and so good. The server was so nice and kind and the place has a cool vibe to it. I didn’t take any pictures cause I devoured everything immediately sorry.
