Incredible First Experience with Jamaican Cuisine!
This was my very first time trying Jamaican food, and I am beyond impressed! Every bite was packed with authentic, deep flavors. The Curry Chicken was seasoned perfectly—the spices really penetrated the meat, making it incredibly flavorful. I also loved the rice and peas, which had a delightful coconut aroma that complemented the curry beautifully.
Even the side of cabbage was cooked to perfection, and the fried plantains were a highlight—crispy on the outside while remaining wonderfully soft and sweet on the inside. The portions are very generous, offering great value for the quality of food you get. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a hearty and delicious meal. I’ll definitely be back for more!

My meal was tremendous. Mix the oxtail gravy with the rice and peas, yessir! Plantains were exactly how I like and perfectly sweet. Whoever said the cabbage was bad doesnt know food. I highly enjoyed the meal and it took me 3 trips back to finish. Generous portions.

Food portion is good! Oxtail plate can be seasoned more, it’s bland. The wings are really good and grilled. 8/10

The jerk chicken plate was AMAZING. The meat was so tasty and tender and fell right off the bone. My boyfriend ordered oxtail and throughly enjoyed it. 10/10 Jamaican food – please do yourself a favor and get some food here!

I was excited to try this place, but it ended up being a disappointing experience. I ordered the large oxtail plate and jerk chicken with festival.
The oxtail plate was a huge letdown—it tasted old and had a bitter flavor that was quite off-putting. I was particularly upset since I’d ordered the large plate, really looking forward to enjoying it. The rice and peas were also underseasoned, though fortunately the cutlery set included salt packets to help.
The jerk chicken was decent but sweeter than I’m accustomed to. The plantains were actually the highlight of the meal—prepared exactly how I like them.
I’m not sure if this was just an off day or the usual standard, but either way, it’s too expensive to risk wasting money on subpar food.

Thank you for the response! While I don’t work as a professional reviewer or get paid for my reviews, I do have a background in public health with two degrees, which has helped me develop strong analytical and communication skills. I’d encourage focusing your efforts on improving the meal quality and consistency, as that would likely address many of the concerns raised in customer feedback. Best of luck with your business!

Came for dinner after work ordered the Jerk Chicken & fries with a side of plantains. It was good I would give it a 7/10 thought the Jerk sauce would be better. Ordered a Carrot Ginger drink and it was 20/10!!! I’m coming back for that. Overall all the place is good!

Chicken fell right off the bone. My mouth is watering right now thinking about the rub they used, the tenderness, and the outside crispy bits. They give a good amount of food, I ate all of it and I’m slightly too full with the French fries. Fat and happy. The sauce they served with it isn’t needed but I wished I had poured it over sooner. So good! 1000% coming back and trying everything else on the menu. It was served up quick and I was here right at lunch time. It’s in the Ani’s front yard area. Anis is really good as well. The vibe is chill. Lots of people here working.

At window began to ask questions due to my allergy. “I don’t serve people with allergies” I need to start videoing these crazy responses. So I didn’t get to order food from Flames. Since the scores I gave.

I’ve known Errol and Dacia since 2018, and I’m so happy they reopened their food truck off Oltorf. Simply put, this is the only Jamaican food I trust and eat in Austin. Errol’s jerk is out of this world! If you’ve never tried it, I highly recommend oxtail and their red snapper if/whenever they have it on special. Of course, never go without a beef patty or a pair of festivals 🙂

This is the most authentic Jamaican food I’ve ever had in America (coming from a Jamaican)! They are sweet, genuine, and authentic! If you are in Austin make sure you stop by this place, you won’t regret it! (Side note: I was in Austin for 3 days and stopped by this place everyday. It’s just that good!!)
