My family really enjoyed this place—we went specifically because of their standout gluten-free options, which many restaurants don’t offer. It made both me and my daughter feel confident and comfortable ordering, and the selection was much better than expected. Everyone in our group was happy with their meal, gluten-free or not. We’d definitely go back next time we’re in Traverse City!
We ordered the half chicken and pork mac-n-cheese. My husband also got an Old Nation ($9.50). Everything tasted great & the food came out pretty quick. Waitress was ok. They lost points for the added surcharge that they don’t tell you about to “offset the rising cost of things”? The portions are huge, so maybe cut back on the size instead of charging a surprise fee! Or just be honest & raise your menu prices. The restaurant said in a previous reply to a comment, “we understand the surcharge can catch people off guard”….so they’re ok with being deceptive.
Brisket- lean, dark bark, smoked well.
Pulled pork- smoked well and tender.
Chicken- smoked very well. It didn’t even need sauce.
Ribs-It was a bit chewy and needed work to get it off the bone.
Two cornbreads were a nice touch, and we used them for dessert.
The seasoned fries were good and plentiful. The coleslaw was average. The macaroni and cheese was not hot, watery, and flat. I would not get that again. I’m not a fan of the 3% inflation fee, but at least they don’t charge a credit card fee on top of it.
patio, high, low top, booth, and bar seating exist. Craft beer and mixed drinks are available. Excellent service provided. The place is clean, but it is expensive and a bit loud. I would recommend it.
