In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

Our waiter , Laurence, was running around with his head cut off. He thanked us for our patience as he took our orders, explaining that a couple of people called out. I tell you, for being short of staff, management should be proud of this well oiled machine of workers. They helped each other pulling orders off the hot window and serving customers, whether it was their table or not. Team work put to the test and it passed the test. Very good crew.
The food was perfect. The chicken fried steak was perfectly crunchy with a well expected taste. He gravy was flavorful with a good thickness, not watery. The mashed potatoes were thick and danced a jig on my taste buds.
I would definitely visit this location again. Black Bear Diner has been a lint tone favorite no matter what town we visit them in.
Omar my waiter was attentive, considering there was a group meeting of Toast Masters while I was there and he was the only server! So this venue can serve larger groups. Access is flat and is wheel chair and stroller compatable. Plenty of free parking.
My breakfast was huge. You will not leave hungary. Two people.could split this breakfast. I noticed something special about fluffy Black Bear pancakes… While most pancakes get gummy and elastic after butter and syrup, these pancakes seemed to crumble (like cake). My server gave me two pats of butter for three giant pancakes, and I had to ask for more.

Clean and not to busy at the time . So we were in and out in a timely manner.
In these challenging economic times throughout the food service industry, I truly hope the restaurant management recognizes what a solid asset Aiden brings to the entire Black Bear Diner team and overall customer dining experience.
