Going to give them another try once they fully open.

New restaurant replacing Kotsu and the same owner as Honeybird. The interior and exterior gives off that island vibe and the food is there to match.

Ordered the chicken katsu with a side of mac salad and half a pound of OG poke.

Katsu was good, juicy and flavorful and I really enjoyed the katsu sauce. It’s stronger than what you normally get but it’s good.

Mac salad seemed to be missing some ingredient and was sort of bland. Says there’s peas, eggs and potatoes in it, but I saw none. Maybe they puree it?

Poke was good. Fresh fish as described.

I’ll probably swing by and try the other items and see if the sides were a one time snafu. Lots of potential here!

Positives: Mac Salad and the Spam Musubi were good. Garlic Ponzu Salmon had good flavor, but fishy.

Negatives: OG Poke was spoiled or on it’s way to getting there! Tuna had an off taste, it was slimy, color was gray/dull, and unfortunately, I ended up throwing it away. Mochiko Chicken was overcooked and dry. Also, the customer service needs improvement. I don’t know if they were understaffed when I went this week, but it was terrible.

Don’t think I’ll be back.

I was very curious about this place, so I knew I had to check it out. We got their kids chicken katsu, which wasn’t bad. It came with rice and Mac salad. I found the rice a bit too hard for my liking, but I liked the Mac salad. We also got their chicken teriyaki, which was flavorful but a little too charred and too hard. Overall, it wasn’t too bad. I’ll have to try their other plates.

**Update: We went back and had kids chicken katsu again, but this time the chicken was not cut evenly. The width of the katsu was uneven, too. Some parts were thin, and others were chunky. This definitely affected the taste and texture. What was more upsetting was that the plastic container that it came in was discolored. I’ve never seen anything like this, so we ended up throwing the food away.

Casual spot offering some of my fav items like loco moco, poke, and specials like skirt steak with eggs. Pretty affordable and lots of parking nearby. Plus outdoor seating makes it pet friendly!

Went for lunch, ordered the spam musubi and the galbi plate with their roasted vegetables. Vegetables had a weird taste to it and the galbi was tough and overcooked. A few mins after lunch my stomach was in so much pain and I was sick for the rest of the day. Disappointed considering how good the pictures looked online.

I’ve eaten at Aloha Kids a few times now – before and after their opening (went during the soft opening). I liked their food so much that I actually catered the food for an event. They had the food ready on time and it was delicious. The portions were generous and I had leftovers for days!

I think I’ve eaten pretty much everything on their menu but my favorite is the miso cod and their salmon poke. The miso cod is so savory and delicious and the poke goes so well with white rice. The musubis are great, too, and their drink selection in the restaurant has drinks you usually wouldn’t expect.

I’m so glad this place opened because we could always use good food around here!

First time here and pleasantly surprised! Feels fresh and good quality. Unique vegetables and kimchi are really good. Fried chicken, katsu and cod all nice too. We’ll be back!

Update: A couple months later and for some reason it’s never been as good as the first time. Almost everything tastes different now and not as good:(

Had teriyaki chicken plate with side of mac salad. The chicken flavor and portion size was good. I felt the mac salad was very bland. I also ordered a spam musubi, good flavor, but the spam was dry.

Food was fresh and in large portions. Got the chicken and galbi combo along with the mochiko chicken. Enough to share both meals.

So this is a brand new spot and I actually think it’s also owned by the people who own Honeybird, which has been one of my favorite restaurants in the area specializing in southern fried chicken and some fantastic sides. Aloha Jids is all about traditional Hawaiian food. You’ll find the standards like Korean Kalbi and teriyaki chicken combo plates, but you’ll also find more rare dishes like big beef ribs on the bone and a anoki mushroom musubi. I had the ladder and it was excellent. Definitely coming back here!
