Wow! The food was amazing. We ordered the Big Apple, the Big German Treat, the Sante Fe Garden, the Bacon Lovers and had coffees and strawberry lemonades to drink. The Big Apple was sweet and delicious. The Big German Treat was lighter and sweet from the strawberry syrup and the Sante Fe Garden was savory. We 110% recommend you try this place…and the Big Apple

I have been coming to pancake House for over 20 years and this is truly a staple in GP. The quality ingredients, friendly staff, and warming, home-like atmosphere, including their insanely delicious hot cocoa, brings back the childhood nostalgia every time! The cherry Kujafa crepes are to-die for, with a side of bacon and hash-browns! Weekends are busy, but it’s worth the wait. Sunday breakfast is always better at Pancake House!

They have great pancakes here and very affordable breakfast prices. I always get the freshly squeezed grapefruit juice which is always good as well. If there’s a line you don’t have have to wait long either. I definitely recommend this place for the pancakes and juice.

Best breakfast place anywhere. A welcoming gathering place for growing families with kids from birth, through local school years, when they visit from college or as adults living elsewhere. Interesting how some long standing staff recognize them when they visit. The decor is delightfully country, elaborate and changes with the seasons. Staples are the 49ers thin, large pancakes, the big apple and the big German with lemon wedges and powder sugar on top. Although, the big apple takes 20 min to fix, the wait is well worth. It’s hot, sweet, with a ton of apples inside. Great coffee and excellent friendly service. Warning: put enough coins in the parking meters around the restaurant because it’s a ticket hotspot for the local police.

My family has been coming to The Original Pancake House for a long time now, and I honestly don’t know why it’s taken me this long to finally leave a review. Better late than never. In the past year the food quality has declined (see attached small dry flavorless patty).
I can’t speak for every Pancake House out there, but the location on Mack in Grosse Pointe Woods is one of the good ones, but we will try others. Parking is plentiful (even though it can get a bit congested), and yes—you’ll probably have to wait. But the line moves quickly, and once you’re seated, the service is consistently exceptional.
The food quality is good but has declined, you can genuinely taste the difference, and the ingredients feels like the freshness has diminished as well- and not as thoughtfully prepared.

Good spot! Busy! In order to get a table you wait in line the entire time. Parking attached to the building. Our server was nice. Most dishes come with a side of pancakes, so that’s nice!

Blueberry pancakes were the worst I’ve ever had. 3 to 4 blueberries in each pancake and you couldn’t even see them visibly from the outside as they were tucked inside and so teeny weenie. They got lost in the pancake and I certainly couldn’t taste them.What they called blueberry compote was nothing more than frozen blueberries floating in water. When I poured it on my pancakes, and it saturated them and was dripping and loose all over the place and ruined the whole meal. I should’ve come home and made my own pancakes loaded with berries,with a nice thick compote and rich syrup. Such a terrible experience. I used to love this place. I was so looking forward to reliving my past enjoyment of this restaurant, but alas. I was so disappointed. For the amount of money that I paid for the pancakes, I got plain battered pancakes and very, very thin with no fluff or substance at all,with a couple of berries. I should’ve walked out, but I was hungry.

I knew this was going to be a great dining experience from the moment I entered the restaurant. A friendly hostess greeted me with a big, beautiful, welcoming smile. Happy employees are what turn a good dining experience into a great one.
I was given a table as soon as I arrived and given a nice cup of cold water. I went over the menu, and my waiter was right there, ready to take my order.
Let me tell you the breakfast I had was superb. The bacon was cooked perfectly with the right amount of crisp to non crisp meat. A nice smokey flavorful thick bacon. My eggs were scrambled with cheddar cheese and fluffy. The pancakes were a perfect compliment to the slightly salty and savory bacon. This delivered my pancakes with warm syrup, and that was a delightful meal enhancement. I don’t like hot pancakes with cold syrup. It’s like The Original House of Pancakes read my mind as I walk through the door. I just took my time savoring the complimentary combinations of sweet and savory mixtures. I will definitely be visiting again and again…

I ordered the traditional breakfast with pancakes. It was a very standard breakfast with nothing that particularly stood out in terms of flavor or presentation. The pancakes and sides were satisfactory, but overall, the meal was fairly ordinary.
