We stumbled upon this place when looking to grab a bite before the slopes. The food and service was absolutely fantastic so we ended up coming back everyday for the remainder of our stay. The owner is very sweet, and the bartenders were both great! All the food we had was delicious. The handmade burgers are out of this world. The wings were tasty. The club sandwich was huge, and the fries were crispy and yummy. The chili and grilled cheese was an excellent deal on the specials menu, and it was hearty and hit the spot. The prices are great as well all across the board. Definitely a favorite and will be back anytime I’m in town. Must Try!!!

Joy , our waitress, was a joy! She was friendly and attentive. This establishment should be thankful to have her .♡ Now onto the food ! We ordered off both menus and our food came about 5 minutes apart, but we had been warned that would happen due to separate kitchens. We honestly thought it would a larger time discrepancy in the food coming to the table so it was a surprise that we could start eating at about the same time! If you order the appetizer popcorn shrimp , you are in for a treat! It was delightfully good and the tartar sauce was very delicious! I hope you packed an appetite because nothing about that popcorn shrimp that was popcorn! They were large shrimp and alot of them. It was a pleasant surprise because so often restaurants cut back portions and raise prices but not here! They ensure you get quality and value! Moving on to the burger…..the 6 Oz burger was huge and the seasoned fries were so delicious! I swear there was more than 6 Oz on that bun, it was huge! The large pizza was a beast…..they aren’t messing around with their portions! It was perfectly cooked and delicious! Between our waitress, the ambiance/experience, and the value for the amount of quality food we received, we will definitely be back next time we are in the area from Florida!

I looked up this place on Google maps and thought almost 5star reviews — I will enjoy it really much!!. We come group of 3 people on MLK evening. Host tells us 15 min wait time. After us come few other groups she sits them within 5-10 minutes. We wait. After about 30 minutes of waiting I come up to her and say what’s up? Why are you seating everyone else and not us? She says oh your table is ready. She finally brings us to the table. Waiter is pretty friendly but doesn’t know the soup of the day. I order loaded potatoes skins and strawberry spinach salad. He leaves comes back 20 minutes later to tell me that they’re out of both loaded potato skins and spinach salad. My husband gets food. My baby gets food. I sit there watch them. I order Greek salad. Waiter brings me a dressing and says will be back with my salad. Everyone is pretty much done eating. Dining room is empty.. just us sitting at the table. I’m waiting for that salad that i don’t even want anymore. 1hour and 40 minutes after we walked into this place my salad arrived. I tell the waiter I’m not really happy with the service and will not leave a nice review. He apologizes like many times. And brought us a slice of cheesecake on the house. Will I ever come back? Maybe… the place is really cozy and charming especially during winter holidays. But this experience wasn’t 5 star.
Their americano was really good. We went to get one to go.

I went the bakery/coffee shop portion of the cafe. The barista was super friendly and the cortado was really good! The Reese’s cake was ok, flavor was good, but the texture was dry. Cute, rustic place in the town of banner elk…I would stop here again!

An absolute GEM of an establishment located in the heart of banner elk. A family owned business that cares deeply about their restaurants. If you can’t find an amazing meal with their huge menu selection- you’re missing out! My personal favorites are: Patty Melt, Pizza, Wings, Quesadilla, blackened chicken Ceaser salad, ANY soup they make is amazing. The Popcorn Shrimp are way bigger than most Popcorn Shrimp… I could go onward as I am a local resident and my two sons and I eat here daily. We have found it to be more cost effective than cooking. You cannot beat their lunch specials anywhere and all I can say is this establishment is a huge part of downtown banner elk. The servers, bartenders and staff WILL remember your name, which is a huge deal to me. You will feel at home and you’ll have an amazing meal!

On a quick get away, stopped for lunch. Burgers were just what the doctor ordered. Extensive menu, breakfast menu looks outstanding. There’s a barista with specialty coffees and expresso. Yummy!!!
Good local brews on tap.
Shout out to our very attentive bartenders, Sarah Joe and Alex.

Banner Elk Cafe was fantastic. The food was delicious and the service truly stood out. The team was attentive from start to finish, pre-bussed the table without us even noticing, got every order correct, and paid close attention to the little details that make a big difference. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and clearly worked well together. A great experience all around, we’ll definitely be back on our next visit!

I always have a good experience eating here, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. Especially the burgers! I had Tony as my server, he and the staff were very welcoming and fun to talk to. The environment is cozy and fits Banner elk well. Will be coming back many times and racking up my points :p

Came in for a hot chocolate and believe I briefly met the owners outside.
Hot chocolate was great but I want to leave a comment to possibly help out.
Owners were hustling and getting everything setup and presentable although the staff seemed all over.
It took 5 minutes for someone to take my order at the Cafe portion, there was no line – just nobody was there. I asked twice to the group of 2-3 sitting chatting in the front (workers) and they said “yes we take orders there” yet just resumed their conversations after I asked.
They seemed younger so I get it, but the majority of negative reviews seem related to service, and I felt that with being there just for a few minutes.
Not that anybody asked, but I’d suggest hostesses be trained on POS too, no reason customers should be waiting if one person is away, and even if they’re not trained on POS, a modicum of customer service to ask me why I’m standing here looking around would go a long way for patrons. Nobody behind the counter/cafe area inquired either.
I know restaurants are horrifically tough and I can vouch for the owners hustling, but there is a training gap or hiring issue with some of the workers there.
All that aside it’s a wonderful venue in a great area. I’m glad they run the business because otherwise it’d most likely be a dead spot. They provide a lot for Banner Elk. Parking is super easy which is fortunate, as parking is hard to come by in town.
Thanks – good luck.

A nice place and in tune with the environment and the mountain location.
2 menus , one american one with Italin dishes so plenty of choices including pizzas . Not quiet but not too loud either.
If you are a traveler this is a good place to stop and eat
