We came on a Saturday evening for dinner; it was disappointing. As a former server (elsewhere), I’m wondering if the all-star staff had the night off or were sent home early. Everything took a long time. We sat there a good 5-7 min before we saw our server. No idea what their name was…that’s how remarkable their service and the entire experience was.
The soup and salad we requested prior to our entrees were poorly timed due to what seems like miscommunication between the kitchen and our server. My partner’s soup arrived after I finished my salad (service tip: no one wants to sit there hungry and watch someone else eat when they should have food in front of them too), and the soup was stunning in all the wrong ways; never in my life have I seen an unmelted piece of cheese just sitting atop a cup of French Onion soup, and the soup was lukewarm, at best. It was sent back; it arrived so late we thought our server forgot about it, and it was so unappealing it wasn’t wanted anymore. A wrap we ordered was incorrect and had to be remade, so something that took longer than it should have to begin with, has now taken even longer. Yet again, I had my food, and there’s my partner with no food in front of him due to an oversight. It was clear there was no quality control happening in the kitchen, on simple items.
Our server seemed especially distracted/inattentive/avoidant; didn’t check on us much nor did they refill or top off our water (all we chose to drink that night-read: you lost alcohol sales because service was slow) while we were waiting for our soup and salad before our entrees. Not one refill of our 10- 12 oz water glasses during our entire meal…it’s water. It’s the most basic task of any dinner service. Keep the glasses full. Trying to get their attention for anything was difficult as well. Half the time we couldn’t find them/see them. A customer shouldn’t have to flag a server down for simple, service-related tasks either, the server should be aware of all of their tables at all times. I could understand the length of our wait (service or food) if the restaurant was slammed, but we arrived after dinner rush. There were only a few other tables. I’ve seen it busier, with better service, in the past.
In the end, our server did comp our soup and wrap, and we were offered dessert as a gesture for the soup situation (we declined-we had birthday cake waiting at home).
As is so often the case (generally) our disappointment should be blamed on our expectations, however, our expectations on this occasion were due to the consistently good experiences we had here in the past. Add in it’s where I chose to have my birthday dinner…that’s another layer of the disappointment.
My hope is that management sees this, receives it well, and uses it as a training/coaching opportunity. I understand all restaurants will have an “off” night (for whatever reason), and I will certainly extend some grace for it, so that doesn’t mean we won’t return.
We had reservations since we were a larger party.
The server was extremely attentive. Double checked orders to male sure they were all correct. Our party did not all come in together, and the server (N) was phenomenal.
The food was amazing. Quite a few of our party ordered the special, a 7oz sirloin with salad and mashed potatoes. Others ordered pizzas, which were so good. I ordered the Chicken Modiga. Awesome fired pizza.
Burger and wings were pretty typical. Met expectations.
This has been a staple of my husband’s family for years. They never disappoint.
Maybe on a quieter night, or if you’re looking for a lively local bar, this could be a decent place to go. As a weekend dining experience, though, I don’t think I’d go again.
Food and drinks are Awesome.
The service is top notch, always friendly and very fast.
Love this place
