Beautiful restaurant with a lovely staff. We loved the wedge salad, the Cajun seafood alfredo was super flavorful, the coffee rubbed filet was cooked just right and the fish was flaky and flavorful.
We tried two types of oysters and they were on the smaller size. They were just ok.
The desserts were selling out fast. Our favorite was the cheesecake with the cookie crust! I would start with that as my main meal next time! We will definitely be back!

Outstanding restaurant! The next time we are in the Black Mountain / Asheville area, we would gladly return to this restaurant. Our dinner started with raw oysters, moved on to an amazing French Onion soup and delicious entrées. I ordered the scallops with a very creamy rich pasta. My dining partner enjoyed the seafood dish in a creole sauce.
We ended our wonderful meal by sharing a delicious rich serving of the Bread Pudding.

We stopped by here on our way across the state, and it happened to be our anniversary so we were not looking for fast food. The reviews were good, so we decided to try it. We were not disappointed! The fish dishes are excellent. I had the grilled trout. We also splurged and enjoyed in house dessert of key lime pie- one of the best that I ever ate!

September 27, 2025…I sat at the mostly empty bar beside used table ware for five minutes while the slender brunette bartender conversed with her customer (white cap). She passed by me a number of times like I was invisible. I flagged down another server to place an order. She’ll recall I left an appropriate tip – $.07.

Great seafood in the mountains! Get the oysters and the mussels. Kindred tbe bartender is fantastic. They were a little short handed, but every staffer was friendly and quick. No waiting in the bar, seated quickly.

Oh my – where do I begin! We did Monday night at the oyster bar. Excellent little oysters from Virginia. Loved the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese sauce. The fried oysters are about the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve lived on all 3 U.S. coasts. Service is excellent.

This use to be a favorite of ours that we visited often. The food is good, but after the service last time we will never be back. In an almost empty restaurant we get put in a table next to the kitchen door, keep in mind we had reservations. All evening it’s just the door slamming into us. I put my hand out to avoid it hitting me and the worker who swung the door open says “that’s aggressive”. When we left there was still plenty of open tables. No reason for where they thought it was appropriate to sit us. Luckily, Black Mountain has other fine dining restaurants that we can frequent that care about their customers.

Good menu in a small old school building with great seafood options and local food. We came in for dinner service and had friendly service. Desert was delicious and we were happy to get a table on a busy night. Worth stopping by and having a few courses to see what you like. ***updated June 2021 *** we dined in tonight getting the special Maine Scallops and the trout which were delicious. Also dabbled in some of the fresh oysters. The menu is still great but the price for what we had does seem higher than other fresh seafood places locally. All in all if you want the basics it can be done but if you get the entrees and or specials it’s gonna be quite expensive.

We went for dinner for a friends birthday and everything was awesome. We shared the oysters to start which I thought were fantastic! My girlfriend got the redfish which was panseared with nice crust in the outside, finished in the oven to perfection. The tomato salad was generously portioned with fries okra and a hefty mozzarella ball. Everything was phenomenal!

Wanted to love this place.
The store front was very cool.
Inside was nice, clean and comfortable.
We started with the 222 oysters and the oysters deviled.
The flavors were fine but didn’t jump out at you. The temps seemed to be off on all (this would become a theme for the evening). The fried oysters on the Deviled ranged from cool to slightly warm.
The 222 oysters seemed to be at about room temp across the board.
We had the pear cider and highland gaelic. The cider was amazing but my beer (which I drink regularly) was off. The first one had way too much head and tasted soapy. Second was fine.
We ordered the redfish and Steak Diane (special) for entrees.
The fish was perfectly cooked / well seasoned and the temp was fine – but the grit cake wasn’t nearly warm enough.
The steak was cooked to correct temp and reasonably warm. The “Diane” was pretty pedestrian.
Sides were flavorful but not nearly warm enough. The broccoli was great, would have been better if it were hot.
I was pretty disappointed in the steak cut for $36.
The bread pudding was excellent and piping hot.
Our server was absolutely wonderful. Highlight of the night.
Total for two with three beers and the items above was $145 before tip. Seems like a lot of clams for what we received.
