Had the set menu for two that comes with the hue sampler set, two appetizers and two entrees. The sampler set was the best part; all three items were good 8.5/10. The beef tartare was too strong of a peanut taste 4/10. The short rib grilled cheese was very good 9/10. The five spice duck was pretty good 7/10. The shaken beef was very salty and sour 4/10. It’s definitely a very Americanized place at ~$70 per person I don’t know if it’s worth it. Overall 5.5/10

FINALLY a good Vietnamese restaurant in Lower Manhattan. I was happily surprised to see the regional hard-to-find dishes. They did them very well, and we loved everything we tried. Definitely worth a visit! Our favorites were the Ban It Ram and Shrimp/Sweet Potato

Celebrated a special day here. Nicely decorated restaurant.

Not sure if this was just an off day but most dishes were either too salty or greasy. We ordered 2 sampler sets for 3 to share. You can do either the set, or ala carte, most items are available on either set.

Sampler: this is the best within the meal. Flavors and texture were nice of the 3 different samplers, their hot sauce is very hot for usual viet food, we were ok with it but doubt it suits a lot of people’s preference with heat.
Prawn fritters – too much batter and it was deep fried and pretty hard to bite, the taste was fine but nothing special.
Short rib sandwich with a beef soup dip – ribs were soft but the sandwich was kinda messy and with the cheese it just felt very greasy.
5 spice duck noodles – the duck was so salty! nothing special about the marinate or the taste of it.
Turmeric branzino with vermicelli- another super salty dish, not well presented and aside from the saltiness of the fish I can’t quite taste much else within. And they give you shrimp paste on the side which is another salty condiment and it just didn’t work out…

Overall we were pretty disappointed.

Van Da was solid but nothing too special. We did the deal with starters, one app and one entree per person for $55 each person. A better deal than ordering a la carte, but prob not worth it still in the end. The place is also sooooo far from any of the subway stations, so we had to go really out of our way to try it. The best dishes were the sprimp app and grilled sandwich app. Duck noodles were too salty and papaya salad wasn’t flavorful enough.

Had a good dinner at Van Ða!
Downstairs had more seating, but the other table of 4, was way too loud or high that it was bothering to enjoy the meal.

Fish was very crispy, and the sauce was so good duck was a little too sweet, in my opinion.

I wish the noodle portion was a little bit bigger.
Service was really good and informative.

The food and flavors were amazing. We took the set menu, which was perfect because we don’t know much about this cuisine and it was the perfect choice. Staff was ok.
Big minus: it was so fast! They sent all the dishes with almost no time to eat in between them and the table was too small to have them all on. It was very overwhelming and it felt like they wanted to get us out of there.

Tremendously flavorful and authentic, the meal was one of the best I’ve had in NYC in terms of not only Vietnamese food, but Asian food in general. The dishes were exciting and well balanced, full of aroma. The dining space was cozy and inviting, and the service was amazing. Overall an amazing experience, and I would definitely go back, hopefully often.

This review is for a delivery received from Van Da. Items ordered were Pho Short Rib Grilled Cheese, and the Banh It Ram. As we all know when ordering delivery we can expect a drop in quality of the food as packaging certain foods can change the consistency and texture of the food. The Banh It Ram arrived in a small plastic container, the fried mochi balls were slightly soggy but maintain a slight crisp exterior…the taste was exquisite when paired with the nuoc mam sauce. The Pho Short Rib Grilled Cheese was a total miss. The sandwich was burnt to a crisp and complete inedible…to add insult to injury the restaurant packaged the sandwich with the burnt side down so as to hide the burnt end. I was very much disappointed in the poor quality control of the restaurant.

A delightful experience from start to finish! We did the tasting menu and the shareable plates were absolutely excellent. Really surprising, a couple of the best bites I think we had at a dinner in some time. The entrée portions are actually fairly large so when they talk about sharing family style, I think you can limit the entrées and the appetizers.

The food was excellent! I particularly enjoyed the Roasted Five-Spiced Duck, Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef), and Banh It Ram (Crispy Mochi Dumpling). Each dish was flavorful and beautifully prepared.
