Me and my husband went to the establishment today. We ordered the small meat platter which came with smoked turkey, brisket, ribs, pulled pork and smoked sausage along with 3 large sides and also ordered the dino rib. The wait time was a little long but it was well worth the wait. Meats were well seasoned and tender. We will definitely be returning

Not many places I rate get 5 stars. 5 stars are reserved for those special places. Those places that tick every box and delight the senses.
This is one of those places. We ate here for lunch on our 27th anniversary and were delighted. The place doesn’t look like much on the outside, but inside packs a punch. Although seating is very limited, we were able to get a seat. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. The ladies at the counter were quick to make recommendations and very pleasant in conversation. I ordered the 2 Meat Plate and my wife ordered the brisket tacos.
It didn’t take long for our feast to arrive and we dined like kings. It’s rare that you find a place where the sides are equally as good as the entrees but they are here. We tried them all and they were fabulous. The brisket & ribs were among the best I’ve had anywhere including some top ranked places in my home state of Texas. My wife loved the brisket tacos as well.
We posted a few pics on Facebook and had several friends follow our lead to eat there the next day. And they were just as impressed.
Would I go back? Absolutely! This is the best BBQ I’ve eaten in Louisiana and probably the best I’ve eaten anywhere in the last couple years. It’s 3 hours from where we live but I’d gladly make the drive. It’s that good!

Listen. After this lunch I want the entire Mennonite community to run our town. If you’ve been hesitant about the owner change at Big Thicket BBQ…. DONT BE!! Wonderful, kind people and the food is AMAZING!!!!! My gosh I can’t scream that part loud enough. I always put sauce on my brisket but this brisket needed NONE. If you haven’t had their cheesecakes….. You REALLY are missing out. Go support them NOW and thank me later!

Just picked up our Christmas tree from Grant’s Tree Farm and my husband and I decided to find lunch in Deridder. So glad we did. The BBQ was amazing. The burnt ends, brisket and sausage were deliciously seasoned and cooked just right.

I was disappointed by my first visit here because my brisket totchos were soggy and cold. The meat itself tasted good, but the overall dish did not work for me. At $10 for quite a small portion, I also found it a little pricey. If you get a sandwich, the sides are charged separately as well. I think it would be nice if they had some kind of combo meal. The drinks were also limited. There was no drink fountain, so you’ll have to get a can. There was no Coke Zero, so I had Diet Coke. I wanted to like the place because the setting is pretty nice and the reviews have been good, but I’m not sure if I’ll return.
