“Once upon a time, Mediterranean & Asian cuisines fell in love, and they lived tapa-ly ever after”.
Located in the beautiful Shops at Merrick Park, Sawa Restaurant & Lounge opened with a contemporary MediterrAsian dual-concept menu in early 2010. Sawa’s tapas-centric menu was created to encourage a shareable dining experience. The menu tells a story of where the Near East meets the Far East, and dishes span the realm of tapas, kebabs, and sushi. In fact, Sawa means Togetherness in Arabic, and Harmony in Japanese, a perfect indication of Sawa’s concept of bringing together seemingly separate cuisine elements into one great menu meant to be enjoyed and shared by everyone.
Known for outdoor dining, great diverse food & beautiful ambiance
Happening Merrick Park eatery dishing Middle Eastern, Mediterranean & Japanese fare indoors & out.

My favorite “Tapas” restaurant in Miami, although it’s not technically a tapas restaurant. It’s a Mediterranean/Japanese restaurant. I primarily go there for their happy hour menu, which is all “tapas” type small plates. They make the best lamb chops that I have had anywhere, but everything on their happy hour menu is good. The only disappointment is the truffle herb fries, that are usually a bit cold and soggy, except on my last visit. We were taken care of by Juan Manuel, who aside from providing fantastic service, was able to get us the best truffle herb fries that I have ever had there, hot and crunchy, with lots of cheese. Happy hour is Mon-Fri 4-7pm, except at the bar inside, where it’s 4-8pm the whole week. Make sure that you ask for Juan to get the best service and Truffle Herb Fries.

We enjoyed our visit to Sawa in Merrick Park, Coral Gables. We were seated right away, service throughout our visit was very good and professional. This is a mid-range to high budget restaurant, and the quality does reflect the price. We had the seafood risotto, the lamb rack, calamari for appetizer, Angus burger, and the lava cake for dessert. Presentation was nice and the food was delicious. The meat was cooked exactly as requested, medium, which I really appreciated. We don’t like overcooked food. I would definitely recommend and return.

Although I’ve been to Merrick a million times I had never dined at Sawa and today I stopped by and was very impressed with the variety of food offerings. We tried a variety of tapas: ceviche, lamb lollipops, chorizo, JB crispy rice and other sides and everything was absolutely delicious. Fresh flavors and a wide range of flavors. Also very please with the wonderful service by Nicolas, he gave great recommendations and made sure we were taken care of. Highly recommend.

Sawa is truly one of the gems of Coral Gables. It is by far one of our favorite spots to go regularly and is always a clear choice for special occasions. Each time we go we feel we have escaped to Greece. The food has escalated to divine this past year. I highly recommend the Sea bass with curry rice and their sushi! Their cocktails are excellent and great wine list. The servers are warm and friendly. Highly recommend!

Our server, Mario C, was absolutely amazing! From the moment we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and really knew the menu inside and out. He recommended a few dishes we wouldn’t have thought to order, and they ended up being some of the best things we tried.
Mario has that perfect mix of professionalism and warmth he checked on us at just the right times and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. You can tell he genuinely cares about his guests and loves what he does.
Sawa is lucky to have him and we’ll definitely be asking for Mario next time we come!

My absolute favorite spot in Miami! Everything here is always perfect — from the food and service to the amazing bartenders (especially Marcela!) and management. Melissa and Laura always make me feel like a priority and truly elevate the experience every time I visit. I highly recommend the Sake-su sushi roll and the espresso martinis — they’re incredible! I’ve been coming to SAWA for years and will definitely keep coming back.

Had an amazing dinner here the other day — the food was fresh, high quality and reasonably priced.
We were served by an amazing gentleman named Juan Manuel who single handedly curated the menu for us selecting a series of tapas from start to finish. Will definitely be back when back in Miami!
