Reviews
What I like most about Kura is that it’s affordable, quick, and convenient — perfect for a casual meal. I’ve been to the Scarsdale location several times, and because it’s one of the newer branches, the quality of the rice and fish tends to be better than at other locations.
The staff is generally friendly but the cleanliness of the restaurant is consistently lacking, which is disappointing. The tables were always dirty. The service can also feel inefficient — most things are brought by robot, including water, so human staff interaction is minimal. You have to ask separately for things like wasabi, and on busy days, I’ve sometimes been halfway through my meal before even receiving water.
Overall, it’s a convenient and reasonably priced option for sushi, but the experience could be improved with better cleanliness and a bit more attentive service.
One nice new feature is that you can request a smaller portion of rice with your sushi, which I really like.
Two minor gripes: our bikkuras kept getting stuck (but servers definitely came through for us) AND since we came at 7:40pm… they were basically done putting food on the belt so we had to order everything by hand instead of getting that conveyor belt experience. So, maybe if that is important to you, come earlier!
Our favorite part of finishing 15 plates was that a cute prize come down next to the order screen. And if you eat 25 plates, you get another cute charm! Everyone got to enjoy the variety.
Place was clean, staff was friendly. Will DEFINITELY come back soon.
No reservation required but Im sure if you have a large group, it would be cordial to let them know ahead of time.
