This is one of our favorite restaurants in Powhatan. We have been several times and never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quick. We come here at least twice a month. We always leave full and have plenty of left overs for lunch the next day.

The restaurant has recently been refreshed with new tables, chairs and booths, which was a welcome update. The food is always good here and our recent trip was as expected. Interesting that my most recent post from 1.5 years is no longer there. I had a major issue with the seating host ignoring me repeatedly for larger parties. I’m happy to say I had no issues today. I was greeted and seated by an attentive and friendly host. My food was very tasty. Service was excellent. Again, the flavors were more American than what I prefer. They are very light on the seasonings. I also prefer Mexican cheeses over mozzarella and some of the other American favorites. But that is me. The demographics here are probably and should be who they cater to. Long story short, I’m happy to bump my rating back to a 5 star. I will definitely continue to eat here when in Powhatan Virginia.

El Cerro Azul has fantastic options and feels like healthier Mexican food. Burritos are huge and make multiple meals. Sides may include black bean and corn salsa, quinoa, and avacado salad, so it’s not just rice and beans with everything. I highly recommend this or the Midlothian location.
