JADE TEA GARDEN Restaurant – Cupertino, CA
Reviews
I recently had a Chinese New Year’s dinner here with a heftier price tag than the food was worth. It was heavy on the seafood and meat dishes: Peking duck wraps, lobster noodles, etc., all tasty – no fillers, but nothing memorable.
On top of this, the waitress told us that all the dishes were served. We told the waitress that we didn’t get the scallop fried rice yet. And she asked us if we were sure. Twice. I would think she would notice herself if she had served us a rice dish for 8 and we were able to finish it and have her take it away. We sat in a private room but it was very empty outside. There was also karaoke and a mahjong table inside.
One of the workers told us that we could even rent out the restaurant for karaoke as they have a 3-wall screen outside. The place is very big. It was the old Joy Luck Place, I believe.
Jade Tea Garden
Jade Tea Garden offers a delightful dining experience with some standout features and a few areas for improvement.
What Shines:
(+) Tea Excellence: The tea served here is superb—no tea bags, just pure, high-quality brews.
(+) Outstanding Service: The staff is warm, attentive, and friendly, making you feel valued.
(+) Din Sum Exquisiteness: The dim sums are delicious, fresh, and flavorful, showcasing authentic craftsmanship.
(+) Contemporary Ambiance: The modern decor, paired with large LED monitors, creates a unique atmosphere.
Room for Growth:
(-) Peking Duck: While enjoyable, it falls short of the signature, unforgettable taste that distinguishes great Peking Duck.
(-) Uncomfortable Seating: The square tables with intrusive bars beneath are awkward and detract from comfort.
(-) Distracting LED Displays: The monitors, unfortunately, display constant advertisements, which feel out of place and diminish the otherwise elegant setting.
Overall:
Jade Tea Garden is an inviting spot with great food and service, particularly for dim sum lovers. While the pricing is on the higher side, improved affordability could attract a wider crowd and elevate its success.
三色龙 (a combination of chicken feet, pork ribs and beef tripe) is good, where you get a chance to taste three dishes. 叉烧包 BBQ bun, 煎韭菜虾饺 shrimp dumpling with chives, and 椒盐鸡翅 chicken wings are very good.
Seating is big and they have a lot of food options.
Their duck was solid but they didnt take off the bones so it was a little hard to eat with the baos.
Their veggies had a lot of flavor and had good wok hei flavor to it
They do a lot of cantonese style stuff so just a heads up thats how it’ll be with the dishes
2. Service was not good. Food for two was all served after waiting for more than 40 min, even we were the first few to come in the morning. Food was served semi-cold and like it’s been touched by some already.
3. Price was not that expensive, but not cheap either considering the quality of food and service. They charged a mandatory 18% tip. While I took some tip off to express my dissatisfaction, they disregarded it and charged the amount they wanted. It is a very dishonorable behavior to me.
