I guess I’m in the minority here but I wasn’t the biggest fan. Place was very busy but even with that food took an extremely long time to get. Multiple times we were told they didn’t have a menu item almost 30+ minutes after ordering. It was 2 hour+ dinner after the waiting for a table and waiting for our food.

The food itself was alright. Momos were great, best thing I had. Expensive though as it’s $10 for just 4. Butter chicken was very tomato heavy and sweet, and naan was good but not the best. That dish was $25 and I’ve had better for under $20 at many other places in SF.

Overall I would maybe go back again to try different things. But for the price, I don’t see the value.

Pretext: Party of 2 on a weekday evening.

The watermelon feta salad was light but surprisingly refreshing, and it paired well with the heavier spiced dishes like the curries. The pork momo was well-seasoned with the dough not being too thick and decent meat-dough ratio. The chili powder-esque side Base Camp provides with the dish gives it a nice kick and accentuates the spices. The cashew curry was sweeter, less spiced, and lighter compared to the goat curry. However, both curries were excellent, and my party was satisfied with pairing them with the garlic naan (not too bready, had a nice crisp edge).

We were comfortably full given the portion sizes, but be prepared to pay $30-$50 per person (at time of writing).

Service was pleasant as Base Camp as the waiters were friendly. The decor was modern with a chill atmosphere.

I went on a Monday night and the food was AMAZING. I got the chicken momo, chicken chow mein and the shrimp cashew curry. Everything from the service to the food was phenomenal. Alisha, my server, was so attentive and sweet!

All the food dishes were really good. It’s not a big menu just one page for appetizers and one page for mains so you can tell they have mastered the dishes on there. The ones that I will be for sure ordering when I go back are the chicken momo (better than the pork), kale chaat, cashew curry with chicken and the garlic naan.

Tofu shapta was crazy good. Almost like paneer chilli in Indo Chinese but better.
The chowmein was great too, with a little bite to it.
Momos were nice, had more filling than I’d prefer but a good appetizer for 1-2 pieces

If you’re looking for Nepalese/Himalayan food in the Mission area, this is a pretty solid spot. It does get busy for dinner and they do accommodate larger groups but be prepared to wait. We had a reservation for a party of 5 adults, 2 kids and a baby so we opted to sit outside. We thought they forgot about us but I think they were busy. We got their tamarind coolers and omg it was so good! With all of the spices in it, I would totally get another one! We also had a large group of vegetarians so there was plenty of options to choose from. We did 2 orders of the kale chaat plate, a watermelon feta salad, 2 orders of the vegetable momos, cashew curry with paneer, organic pumpkin curry, butter chicken, and noodles for the kids. We devoured our food. I really enjoyed the kale chat and tamarind cooler! The momos were a plus too and I’d come back to try their other curry’s in the future. Parking can be tough because it’s just street parking and it can get busy.

Newfound Mission favorite. Flavor-forward mix of Nepali, Tibetan and Chinese-Indian favorites.

Goat Curry with steamed Tingmo buns, a spicy aromatic, yet comforting, highlight. Kale Chaat, a cool, tangy, crunchy melange of refreshing goodness on a plate. Chicken Chow Mein beats even the Chinese restaurant version. Pork Shapta is a salty, spicy yummy Tibetan stir-fry — yum. Classic momos and other Himalayan small plates.

You need to run not walk to this restaurant! One of my new favourite spots in SF. Everything on the menu was perfection.

I’ve never had Nepalese food but all the flavours popped. From the different spices and textures, everyone was moaning with every bite.

We made a reservation, went in a big group, ordered family style, and licked the plates clean. The onion fritters were super crispy. Be warned the cauliflower plate is actually spicy. The butter chicken was some of the best I’ve had. But the star of the show was the Kale Chaat.

Very friendly staff, extremely reasonable prices. Big portion sizes. You will not leave disappointed from this place.

It has become our favorite Nepal restaurant. Been here many times starting this year when we found out they are open regularly back to the schedule. We tried all the sharable dishes (except some marinated in cilantro). All their momos have a soft wrap with delicious dipping creamy sauce, but the vegetable version is our favorite. Great job to “hide” coriander flavor in the veggie momos. We just tried chow-mein. Sounds like Chinese chow-mein on the menu, but it is tastier. Curry dishes with naan are very good too. Just too filling for us. Great chai and you can add sugar on your own.
