Not only was everything we ate amazing but the prices were great too.
So we went here for Diwali which landed on Halloween this year. We happened to be in Maine for the weekend and just found this place through Google. So happy we did and can’t wait to visit again. I highly suggest this place for some very authentic Indian food. And don’t forget a mango Lassi

Not many vegan options north of Portland, so I was grateful to stumble on this place while driving through. Picked up takeout and ate while charging the car. Food was still hot – too hot to easily eat. And spicy. So I’m not sure I really experienced the flavor.

Overall it was a good pit stop, but nothing I’d seek out. Too greasy and hot for my liking. And higher priced than I’m used to based on portion size.

Shared the Chana Masala and Saag Dal. Preferred the flavor of the Dal. Very unique spice profile. The Masala was oily and everything it touched is now stained yellow (my hands, phone case, water bottle, fork…not good car food!!) It was also surprisingly spicy.

Takeout served in the medium sized plastic containers, so not huge portions. White rice in a white folded box (Chinese takeout style.)

I’ve never had Indian food that I didn’t like, but the three of us in our party were disappointed. The food itself was good (meaning there was nothing inherently wrong with it), but it lacked flavor, which I’ve never experienced at an Indian restaurant before. For how much we paid ($87), one would expect the food to have been outstanding. Sadly, it was not. Hopefully it was just a fluke.

Jewel of India is spectacular! I have eaten there many times and the food has never been anything short of delicious. The decor is quaint, but definitely reminiscent of India. Food comes out quickly and is piping hot. After you get your food, it can be difficult to track someone down to get drink refills, but otherwise service is good. I highly recommend checking them out!

The food was not very authentic.

We started it with the Kebab with was dry with a sauce poured on top. It was not great.

For mains we had the Chicken Lajawab, Saag Paneer, Saag Dal which was way too spicy. The Tandoori roti was okay. The Lashydar Paratha was slightly raw inside it tasted like something frozen ready made.

When it came to drink the Chai was too sweet and the Mango Lassi was extremely sour.

I usually order the chicken saag, which is rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. The garlic naan is warm, soft, and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is small but full of charm, like someone turned comfort into a decorating style. The staff are genuinely friendly, the kind who make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous enough to make leftovers a real possibility (if you have the willpower).

Oh man, this place is super awesome. The lady who runs the place makes the samosas herself and they’re probably the best you’ve ever had. Everything was really excellent, the prices were amazing and I absolutely totally loved it

What a JEWEL! Truly! Delicious flavors and fast service!! Prices are comparable if not better than the area average. The chicken curry is amazing! And the garlic nan is a perfect compliment to any meal here!

I like their vegetable biryani. It was so good. And their mango lassi and chai tea was good. But I don’t like chicken tikka masala. The chicken itself was pretty good. But the sauce was not my style.
