This was my first time at Hampton Beach, and there were places that were recommended to me, but I’m glad I skipped those and ended up here ❤️ Riley, you are an incredible waitress, and I loved seeing that all of the staff was genuinely happy to be at work together. Keep up the morale of the restaurant. It’s noticed for sure. Keep being good to your employees ☺️ The food and drinks were amazing. And the views, perfect for the upcoming summer. And their prices were very very reasonable. I can’t recommend them enough!

This Purple Urchin offers unbeatable views of the beach, Ocean Boulevard, and the bandstand, perfect for a relaxing meal after a day at the beach. The wait staff were both friendly and efficient, contributing to a pleasant overall dining experience.
The food was a highlight. We had the swordfish, which was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with coconut rice and a flavorful mango sauce. The baked haddock was also excellent, tender and flaky with just the right amount of crispy breadcrumbs. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish; we’ll definitely be back next time we visit Hampton Beach!

We always really love the Purple Urchin. It is sort of a tradition to go here when we are in Hampton Beach! The best part about it is the upper deck covered porch seating that overlooks the Sea Shell Stage and the beach! They have great drinks and decent enough food. It isn’t fancy by any means – the tables and chairs are plastic and there is a very beachy/relaxed vibe. The wait staff is insane at their jobs! I’m always impressed at how hard working they are. We were able to walk up as a party of 6 in August and be seated immediately without reservations, even though the place was absolutely packed! They don’t take reservations, so you have to hope for the best! We were surprised with a wonderful table and the Hampton’s Got Talent show was starting for us to enjoy with our meal and drinks! My salmon was very dry on this visit, but everyone else enjoyed their meals. Until next time, Purple Urchin!!

We had a great experience at Purple Urchin! The waitress was super friendly and welcoming, and service was fast and attentive. We ordered the beet salad with chicken and the mussels, both were absolutely delicious. The ocean view made it even better. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Worst food I’ve had in a long time. Baked haddock is drowned in butter. Mashed potatoes were so runny I thought it was chowder. Tomatoes on the caprese salad were hard as rocks. The staff are nice people, but completely clueless. Seems like they haven’t received any training.

Food was good, quite pricy since it is seafood and the restaurant is located at the center. Nice view by the window and chill atmosphere. The cocktails tasted average but were $12, somewhat more than expected. Photos are Lobster mac and cheese which came with a nice portion of lobster, and the scallops plating was pretty. The appetizer was bang bang shrimp and maybe it was because we had a flavorful appetizer at the start, the entrees tasted quite bland. Overall, nice restaurant to go to if thinking of a beach date.

Went to dinner here last night. It sucked that it was rainy (what’s new) and it kind of ruined the experience of eating with the windows open along the beach but I can’t blame the restaurant for the weather.
I absolutely love the variety on the menu as it ranges from fresh seafood to burgers to sandwiches.
We ordered the Coconut Shrimp as an appetizer and it was delicious. Probably the best I’ve ever had seeing that I’m not a huge coconut fan.
I ordered the Shrimp Po-boy. I was very impressed with the quality of the shrimp and the baguette. The sandwich was enormous. I thought they may have a used a bit too much of whatever the spicy sauce was but it didn’t deter me from enjoying my meal. My partner was being lame and she ordered the chicken fingers so there’s no need to write on a review on them.
The service was a bit average as they seemed understaffed but I certainly cannot blame them for that with what’s going on.
I recommend eating here if you’re in the area.

We had a great time there for lunch last week- from the food, to the view, and our service, everything was excellent! We got the New England clam chowder, lobster roll, scallops and risotto, everything was fresh and delicious! The hostess and waitress were so sweet! (they even accommodated our request to turn the music down a little!) It was a great experience, we had fun and will be back!

When I got to the U.S, I wasn’t interested in trying out much of the food here, as I didn’t want to mess up my food palate. I’m really glad that I gave the purple urchin a try. I’ve had quite a number of meals at the restaurant, and I must say that my personal fave is the salmon a la vodka. I might be a little bias, being that I’m a pasta lover . I’m in love with how soft and sauced the chicken wings are. Don’t even get me started on the flatbreads. If seafood is your thing, or you’re looking to try it out, the purple urchin is a great place to visit. Customer service is great too
