Idk the background of this place, but the pastries and bread that comes out of this place tastes like the chef went to France learned how to bake bread there.

The baked goods here are divine. If its not from the rhu I dont want it. And the sandwiches they produce cannot be bad with the bread they use. Coffee is also top notch.

A quaint environment for an early morning cup of Joe and amazing pastry! These are the largest pastries I’ve seen… Worth every penny. This place used to be the French broad chocolate location I’m glad to see it’s been repurposed- space both upstairs and downstairs whether you’re there for a quick business meeting, catch up with a friend or just need a getaway space. And don’t forget to grab something on the way out.

Our absolute favorite place to eat and hang out in Asheville ( or anywhere else for that matter!). It’s a charming and very cozy space – great to grab a quick bite or hang out and spend some time. Staff is always super nice. We are regulars to the Asheville area and have gone to Rhu since its early days when it took over the French broad chocolate space. It was always special but now it’s become amazing- it seems every time we go I’m delighted by some new flavor profile they have put together!

It is very reasonably priced but I always spend an arm and a leg because I buy just about every pastry due to how irresistible they are 🙂 every time we go it is my goal to try every new pastry in the case. This time I was lucky enough to be there when they had a yacon pop tart. OMG! We went there 3 days in a row. The first day I bought one the second and third day I wiped them
Out of all they had – enough said lol!
Their sweet pastries are why I go, their savory food and coffee is why I stay!

From the Rhubano ( their amazing twist on a Cuban) to the breakfast biscuit with their house made breakfast sausage or the bagel and cream cheese everything is excellent and made in house! I mean really, wrap your head around that!

I love shopping for local gifts there too as everything is local and of high quality. Did I mention everything is locally sourced? From the perfectly roasted Penny Cup coffee to the locally foraged items they incorporate in their menu it is obvious that Rhu is passionate about supporting the local community and what they do.
I’m not sure who the person/persons behind the concept and the food is
/are but the desire for excellence is obvious. Looking forward to our next visit at Rhu in a few months!

Brown sugar latte (syrup made in-house). Reuben is one of the best in town. Bread is all around delicious. Spectacular ham biscuit. Great southern food with a modern twist. Cute shop for local goods like hot sauces, wine, and more.

A fantastic coffee and breakfast spot with a cozy atmosphere. I had the butterscotch latte and biscuits and gravy with mushrooms. I never would have thought mushrooms would work in gravy like this but it was delicious! As an out of towner, this was a great spot to chill at and I’ll def be coming back!

We had breakfast here two days in a row while visiting Asheville and that says a lot, because we usually love trying different spots! But the mushroom gravy biscuits were honestly the best I’ve ever had. Everything was so flavorful and comforting, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was super friendly. It just hit all the right notes, we couldn’t resist coming back the next morning!

SUPERB!

The welcoming, cozy, eclectic atmosphere immediately set the tone for such a wonderful experience. Paired with an extremely informative and friendly employee, who thoroughly answered each question I asked.

I first ordered the Teddy Graham Latte which ignited childhood nostalgia while quickly making its way to the tippy top of “my favorite coffee to date” list.

I then chowed down on the Turkey Melt. WOW! The sourdough bread was delectable. The overall meshing of ingredients blended together made for one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. (And ya girl was on quite a sandwich kick when pregnant with my first child…)

Bottom line: The Rhu is easily one of my new favorite places and I cannot wait to be back!

I am a sucker for a good biscuit, and since I’m gluten free, that’s been very difficult to find. Enter The Rhu. I ordered the Benton’s Biscuit with egg on a gluten free biscuit, and a side order of a biscuit. My wife ordered the turkey melt on a bread. We both fell in love! The biscuit was dense, flaky, buttery, and salty. The egg and ham were perfect, and the jam on my biscuit was full of flavor. The size of the biscuits is impressive, and my wife said the gluten free and regular biscuits tasted identical. We went back the next day just to get it all again!

In addition, great selection of coffee and tea options, and the cashier remembered us from the day before and asked how I liked the modification they made to my tea the day before.

Plenty of seating upstairs, free water, and a nice, calm atmosphere. I just wish they would deliver all the way up to Maryland so I could get my biscuit fix!

I make it a point to visit The Rhu every single time I’m in Asheville—I’ve been three times now and it never misses. Their pastry game is elite; the croissants (plain, chocolate, and ham & cheese) are incredibly flaky, buttery, and clearly made with care.
Beyond the pastries, the bread is delicious and the barista-made coffee is always spot on. The staff is super friendly, too. Just a heads-up on the flow: they’ll kindly bring your food to the table, but you listen for your name to grab your drinks at the counter. Whether I’m here with friends or my spouse, everyone leaves impressed. A must-visit!
