Nings Thai Cuisine has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat. The staff are absolutely amazing — warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They make you feel right at home the moment you walk in.
The food is delicious across the board. Every dish is full of flavor, beautifully balanced, and clearly made with care. And I have to confess… I am completely addicted to their mango sticky rice. It’s the perfect sweet finish — creamy, fresh, and honestly one of the best versions I’ve ever had.
If you’re craving great Thai food with outstanding service, Nings Thai Cuisine is the spot. Highly recommend!

Great food! Great service! Nice people in a nice atmosphere. I had Chicken Pad Thai. It was amazing! My wife had Green Thai Curry; delicious! If you love Thai food and you’re anywhere near Pahoa, you have to check this place out!

The freshness of all the ingredients and flavor is incredible. Although I have had alot of thai food since being here in Hawaii, the balance of flavors and the simplicity of the green curry truely captured my heart.
Highly recommend !!

soooo good. We got the summer rolls with avocado and the Mee Ka Ti noodles (incredible) Be prepared to wait a while, they are always busy and VERY popular. The servers were endlessly kind and helpful even when things were chaotic and other customers were demanding. One of the best meals we had during our stay in Hilo area

I’ve eaten here a bunch of times. I usually get their Massaman Curry with no peanuts. I love it. I have had the Panang Curry and liked it.
I was not a fan of the beef satay. The meat wasn’t tender, it was dry and overcooked.
Thai Iced Tea is great, and while the Thai Iced Coffee was okay, I wouldn’t get it again, just has an odd flavor.
I also thought the sticky rice was good too.
Tonight I tried the Crying Tiger Steak. I am not a fan of it at all. I’m not a fan of the flavor and I think it has fish sauce in it. I hate seafood and it tastes like I’m eating fish slightly. Absolutely disgusting. But even without the fish sauce I wouldn’t have liked it. The menu says marinated in spices and then served with a sauce on the side. Without the sauce on the side it would have no flavor at all. It’s also expensive for the amount of food you get. $26.95 for a tiny portion of steak and some plain rice.
If you look past my steak review, I think the other curries are good. I’m going to try the basil dish next time.

Literally EVERYthing here is delicious. On my second trip to the big island it was the FIRST place I had to eat. During our trip we repeatedly made the 20 minute drive to eat here. If you like Thai food you’ll love this. I will say that all dishes seemed to be a bit sweet however I personally love it.

It was the only restaurant actually open along their stretch of road, but it was really good. The food was great, and the service was friendly. The food came out really fast. They were really on top of refilling your cup of water.
The only slight complaint I had was the atmosphere; it was a bit gaudy and Buddha-heavy. And it got a bit noisy. They also had tacky ads for food items under the glass top of each table.
But overall, it was great. I recommend the mee ka tee.

Rice cost extra.
Great Thai food— so good I cancelled my trip to Thailand and just decided to eat here and listen to Thai music. Cheaper less hassle and a more authentic experience than actual Thailand.
Thailand gets 1 star. Ning’s get 5 stars. You do the math.

Ning’s is the BEST Thai food I found while visiting the Big Island, Hawaii! They offer many vegan options.
The summer rolls are fresh & delicious. Loved the flavorful Cashew stir fry with rice. The portions are generous too.
