I highly recommend this place if you are passing through this place. We all enjoyed our food. The portion is good for one person to finish. It didn’t take too long for the food to arrive at the table. There were complimentary chips and salsa that was refilled.
We also ordered churros as our dessert. It was a fulfilling experience overall.

I really, really want to like this place yet I can’t. I’ve been there 3 times in less than 2 months and at this point, honestly on the fence. Not due to the food. Food was great. Service was awful and servers were so rude, it was ridiculous and there are several other reviews to reflect what I’m saying. My water glass had greasy fingerprints and film all over it. When I’m given more chips than salsa, ask for more salsa am brought maybe 2 tablespoons of salsa and still not enough to go with my chips and the meal I ordered (I like to put house salsa on my beans and rice) that’s ridiculous. Asked for more salsa. Again, maybe two tablespoons was brought to me with a snarky face and attitude. One lady even walked by and asked “everything good” as she was walking away. No chance of a response. No care or concern to the customer. Just checking boxes. The servers treated me like I was a pain in the butt for asking for more salsa. I stand by what I say. Food was great, atmosphere was fine, servers were rude, should not be in a customer service position and due to how they treated a paying customer, I would like to see a change before I return. Their behavior and demeaner is no way to treat a paying customer. Much better options in the area and this place isn’t worth going to with the way they are so stingy and rude. Get good and respectful servers and I’ll be back. Shame on the servers for treating a paying customer the way I was treated.

We had dinner at El Ranchon last night. We had shrimp with onions, mushrooms , peppers and it was layered on rice in a wonderful sauce. There was also lettuce and tomatoes. These could be put in flour or corn tortillas. The food was absolutely wonderful!!!! They are always so nice when we come in. My partner who is very picky and always needing extra items also thought it was great. THANKS

The service, quality of the food, and value were all excellent. The restaurant itself seemed tired and worn, but if you’re looking for good food with humble settings you won’t be disappointed. The highlights: Chips were warm, salsas tasted homemade and fresh (on the spicy side, but flavorful). I ordered the chicken taco salad. The only greasy part, and I wouldn’t call it greasy as such just fried, was the yummy deep fried bowl that it come in. The chicken was spiced nicely. It also came with beans (no rice). You can choose one of: guacamole, dressing, or sour cream, anything more than one of those will cost extra. I did come with cheese, but mine had so little it hardly seems worth noting (just what you see in the photo. The produce was fresh and tasty. My husband had a combo lunch with beef and it was DELICIOUS, maybe a little oily but the meat tasted very fresh and spiced just right. We will definitely be back!

The food was delicious, we were a party of 7 and no wait at all. Highly recommend. The waiter himself not so much, cuts you off as your ordering and he is very rude. The young gal was very kind.

El Ranchon was the perfect lunch stop located in Elma. Service was great! Decorations seemed a little dated but maintained very well. Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly to our kids.

Service was ….weird. Very rushed, even though they weren’t busy. Not friendly. Walk away as you’re still talking. I got the shrimp enchiladas (my go-to at every Mexican restaurant) and it was awful! The sauce the shrimp was sauteed in was super sweet, like it had ketchup or sugar added. Not savory/spicy at ALL. When I told the server it tasted like sugar/ketchup she offered to remake it with “no sauce on the shrimp,” but when I asked what was in it making it sweet, she said “I don’t know. Maybe ketchup.” What?? I passed and drank my margarita (which was good).
