I thought I would treat myself to a blizzard on Friday night. I haven’t had the greatest experience at the Aston Dairy Queen, but I thought I would give it a try again. Well, I don’t know if you could actually call it a blizzard because basically it was nothing but vanilla ice cream. So inconsistent, sometimes you go and you get a great blizzard other times you go and it’s nothing but vanilla ice cream. I think the staff needs to be trained properly and all the same way, because if you want a good blizzard, you have to go to Broomall. They are always great!

This is my family favorite ice cream shop. My favorite is Brownie Oreo cup fiction. My daughter and wife love the ice cream varieties here. If you want to treat yourself with a sweet right after lunch or dinner, I highly recommend this place.

The blizzards and everything else is delicious. Still tastes like it did years ago. Service was fast and friendly. The only negative I have about them and other places like them is that when you get a blizzard or milkshake they only fill the cup up about 75-80%. I hate that they do that. What if I only gave them $3.75 for a $5 product would they accept partial payment…. NO! I think they need to fill the cup up to what is expected.

Just left and what I thought would be a classic DQ experience turned into mood ruined unfortunately. Ordered a oreo cookie blizzard with fudge on top. Not sure if they heard my order correctly but the lady on the mic said it back to me correctly. Now here’s where the problem comes. When it came to me she says something about the fuge being hot. I’m like OK. I get my “blizzard” and it’s a shake at best. And to add insult to injury almost no oreo. If I pieced together what was in there it would be a quarter of a cookie if that. I go back to the restaurant and the cashier(same woman) tells me it’s how it’s made and it’s pre measured. But I’m thinking…. This ain’t even a whole cookie worth and it’s like dust or bits at that. Then I ask can she remake it with the cookies blended and fudge on top. She says she would have to charge me for extra fudge. I was understanding that I was charged already… I wasn’t given a receipt now that I think about it. She gave me a little cup of fudge but it wasn’t the same. I had a cup full of ice cream soup. I don’t understand (I’ve had DQ since I was a little kid) why she refused to make it how it’s always come. Cookies blended throughout the vanilla ice cream then fudge on top. Or at least ask the customer would you like it blended or on top? Oh and then the lecture at the end before I left on how to order: “next time you order you should say you want a oreo blizzard w/extra fudge on top no blend” and I just looked at her and said alright that works. But in reality it does not. It was rude and not customer service. Even if she thought I wanted it blended, why not ask or even go safe and put it on top (if I wanted to blend I could myself). Smh bad experience won’t be back.

Well it wasn’t that I was dissatisfied. Here’s what happened… I had just finished my dinner and with my new eating regiment had to get dessert in within 30 minutes if I was going to have any at all. Obviously a peanut buster parfait isn’t the most healthy thing. But I saw DQ on my way home and remembered how much I loved them. Especially with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream. So I said what the hay and drove up. Everyone was SUPER friendly. I was pretty shocked by the price, approximately $7.50 that seems way too much. I assumed the price went up but I decided to make a mental note and pay. When I received my parfait I was taken back. Instead of the usual dole shaped ice cream on the top there was just… Nothing? Let me rephrase. The ice cream was only filled up to about 2-3 inches below the brim. Additionally, the whipped cream which I’m pretty sure I paid extra for was… Scant. At first I was angry. But then I thought to myself… Actually this is probably more in line with the portion I should be having. So I accepted it and drove off. Overall, the price didn’t match regardless of the missing ice cream, but service was great! Is this a corporate issue? I don’t know.

This is my second time ordering from this location withing two years. I use to go here all the time before they got new owners. Love the setup “Drive-thru” but as for the quality and amount? Terrible. I ordered a banana split with “peanuts” I use to be able to get wet walnuts. But now I can’t I can ONLY get peanuts imagine 6 peanuts at the bottom of a container surrounded by a lb of the shells. Top of my banana split looked like it had saw dust of top skimmed that off. Started eating the rest thought the banana was covered in chocolate kept scrapping it off realized it was the banana totally black . This definitely will not make it worth the drive. First experience I let slid a year ago when the girl gave me a attitude at the window she’s younger an its a ice cream gig. But this will definitely gross me out.sorry DQ wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. Just stick to my wawa ice cream.

Got a hotdog and a blizzard. Asked for ketchup on the side, only to get back to work and see the workers chupped all over my dog. Blizzard was good though.

Unfortunately the experience was anything but enjoyable at Dairy Queen, in Aston. We waited over 15 mins in line at the drive-thru, finally we were one car away from the window and that poor guy’s order was wrong. We waited another 8 mins for it to be our turn. The employee literally walked away from the window with our order in his hands to goof off with another employee. By the time we got our order of 2 blizzards, they were a melting mess AND to add insult, my order was wrong! I ordered heath and got M&M! Staff needs a better system. Where is management?

This place is my guilty pleasure. My wife and I live locally we will sneak off in the evening to grab a dipped cone. It is often busy but they always do a good job of keeping the line moving so it never feels too long of a wait. If you haven’t been there for some reason make sure you find time to go…..especially for this summer.
