GST is part of the Desoto House in downtown Galena and offers a cozy Tavern style atmosphere and great menu selection. They have specials every night of the week and we went on their all you can eat cod night which we ordered along with the salmon burger. The fish was good but more of a light batter that isn’t as crispy as I prefer it but was still tasty. Coleslaw and potato salad sides were a little bland and needed more seasoning but the salmon burger was very good. Garlic fries are a must! Pricing is fair and staff is nice. They do not take reservations and it came get full being part of the hotel, so come earlier or expect a wait on the weekend especially.

Stopped here for lunch this last Saturday. We were sat immediately with no reservations, order taken within minutes, and food came out super fast. The food was delicious! My whole party was in heaven while eating. We sat on their patio, a bit narrow and tight, but nice to be outside in the fresh air.

Stopped by on a Sunday around 1:30 and were seated promptly. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly! My shrimp tacos were delicious and she recommended the sweet Thai sauce for my 11 year old son’s wings and he enjoyed them very much! He was so happy with the service he took $5 out of his birthday money in his wallet to add to the tip because he liked her so much!

Good food for the handful of times I’ve been here, but my review really is powered by those cheese curds. I’m not sure what it is about them… but they are the best cheese curds I’ve ever had. They’re like mini grilled cheese pillows. If I’m ever in the area now, I make sure to grab them.

The Green Street Tavern & Restaurant is beautiful however I would not advise eating there in the summertime. We have been by the DeSoto House hundreds of times and always talked about eating there so we were glad when they had a reservation open on our most recent trip.

We ordered take out by calling in the order – since there is no on-line ordering- and when my husband picked up the food, said the restaurant was empty (7p on a Saturday night!). The menu shows onion haystack- but we ended up with onion rings!! We saw the reviews on the cheese curds being “the best” and they truly were not. Nice folks, but really not worth it.

Great bar with a quite easy and laid back atmosphere. The bar tender was very attentive and quick to answer any questions we may of had. My wife ordered the Antioxident martini and I had a Bourbon Old Fashion which both proved to be fantastic. After a few rounds we ordered food to go and got a chicken bacon ranch Flatbread and an order of spinach and artichoke dip. We were surprised that they forgot the dip and only gave us the bread to go with it but we figured it was a simple mistake and the Flatbread more than made up for it. We will definitely return when we come through Galena once again.
