I went to college for Culinary Arts and restaurant management. I know what old or burnt oil smells like. You have to clean and replace your oil. If not the whole area smells like burnt oil and wings. The bar or the kitchen manager should know that. I like this place alot. The staff is very friendly. The ambiance is usually great. But today…..30 Dec 2025 the smell of burnt oil was vwry extreme. When I brought it up to staff I was told the oil was changed a day ago. I didn’t turn on the vent hood. If the vent hood wasnt turned on it still shouldn’t smell like old burnt wings/oil. The kitchen staff has to be held to a higher standard

What a beautiful place to host a baby shower! No hassel, just showed up put up our decorations, ate and partied. The back patio was away from other bar guests. Those whom chose could get a a very reasonably priced drink.
The food was amazing-always is and above everything else- we took home the leftovers!

Dixon is fortunate to have such a cozy place for folks to hang out. The menu is not extravagant but what they do make, they make well. My burger was impressively beefy with ample toppings and nicely seasoned; even the simple side salad was abundant. Our server was pleasant and attentive, and the owner was friendly and a pleasure to chat with. If you want something more than just a bite and a beverage, you can play a gaming machine, shoot a round of pool or even catch some live entertainment. Overall, it’s not surprising why the locals recommend this joint.

Update: We still go here. The food is still great and the staff are all wonderful people! I’d highly recommend going! We were invited the first time and were surprised at the quality of food! We have been back multiple times and have loved everything we’ve tried. The staff is great and it’s a family friendly bar… There is not a no smoking area, but they do have a nice outside area that is super comfortable, covered, and the music plays there, too. It has become a regular spot for us!

Have been coming here for over two years. Food is great, staff is wonderful. We recently had our company Christmas Party here. This was the best!!!. The environment is great. You can bring your family for dinner and not worry. I have never felt unsafe coming in by myself. Thank you to the staff and owners for all you do.

Absolutely great service, food, and drinks! A very respectful place to dine and socialize, and they provide amazing music from live bands, karaoke, and juke box style. The Phil Luke Experience’s performance was amazing and they were treated with honor by the employees and owner! I will definitely visit 28 Shots again!
