We never actually made it in the door this time because the men handling security were absolute jerks. Unwelcoming, unfriendly, and frankly, unintelligent, to be honest. I’m not trying to be hateful, but when we tried to have a conversation with them, they didn’t even know how to speak to us like human beings. They had no idea how to be hospitable. They didn’t treat our group like they wanted our patronage at all. We are not rowdy, and we were not drinking (yet). We were friendly, said hello, and they were just, well, jerks from the start. We didn’t want to spend our money or time somewhere that obviously didn’t want us, so we decided to head back to Matt’s where security welcomed us back, everyone else on staff was over the top friendly, and the atmosphere is far and above better. We also popped into Jersey Lillies, The Palace, and the new speakeasy. EVERYWHERE else treated us as we’ve become used to when we visit Prescott; We had a blast. 1881’s loss. Next time, we won’t be trying 1881 again. The times that we’ve tried is just never worth it when there’s much better establishments steps away. And this was the last time we gave them a chance. It’s Prescott for goodness sakes, one of the most fun, most chill, and most welcoming towns. 1881 needs to get on board. I’ll also be sure to tell my friends asking for recommendations in the area to avoid it.

Very large and spacious bar. The atmosphere was great and the bartender was very friendly, greeting us as we walked in. It is a cash bar ONLY so be prepared. There is an ATM, but if you don’t like paying higher than average fees, go in with cash. Large number of local craft beer on tap.

I used to love coming to 1881, the music was actually good and you could dance all night. It had the perfect vibe with fun, popular hip-hop and dance songs. Now, all they seem to play is house music and Mexican music, and honestly, it sucks. If I wanted to listen to nonstop techno or house, I’d just go to a rave. It feels like they completely lost the fun, high-energy atmosphere they used to have. I really wish they’d bring back the good popular hip-hop and dance music that made the club so much fun in the first place or a least a variety of music not just Mexican music and techno 24/7.

would be better off firing the dj and just letting touch tunes play. maybe that way we won’t hear the same 20 songs on repeat and he could take requests

This place is more updated than the rest of whiskey row. They have pool darts and a much more updated atmosphere. Our bartender was definitely new but he was still great.

I had a wonderful time visiting 1881 spirits. It was such a vibe, especially for a smaller town. They played really good music. The bartenders were very polite and even whipped me up some of their favorite drinks. The Dancefloor was big and spacious. me and my friends from California danced all night long. I’d visit Prescott just to go back to 1881 spirits. 10 out of 10. Way better than my experience at public house.

My (now) husband and I met here 1998, and the dance floor was always packed. It was great. Music was hip hop/R&B, pop. So much fun. There would be a variety of ages.
After moving away, we moved back to Prescott and couldn’t find it (Moctezumas) but realized it was changed to 1881. We went in, and there are now pool tables filling it up. What happened to dancing? I don’t know where to find the music we enjoy and dance to. Do people dance between the tables? I don’t think it’s a good prospect.

1881 is a bar with cigarette vending machines, multiple tvs, an atm, Big Buck Hunter, pool tables, and a ping pong table. They carry a larger variety of beers and spirits than other comparable bars on Whiskey Row.
