My teens and I have been wanting to try another New Haven style apizza hotspot, and Zuppardi’s did not disappoint! While it was busy on an early Friday evening, we were able to park in the lot and get a table within a couple of minutes. My boys shared a large pepperoni and sausage pie, which they said was great (they especially liked the sausage, which I’ve heard is made in house). I got a small baby clam pie with mozzarella, which was phenomenal. Fresh clams, a little spice, a crisp, flavorful crust… so good! We will definitely be back!

Zuppardi’s Pizza absolutely lives up to the hype. The pizza is perfectly cooked with a crispy crust, and incredible flavor in every bite. You can really taste the quality and tradition behind it. The service is friendly and efficient even when they’re busy. This is classic New Haven pizza done right—worth every visit.

Very old school classic neighborhood pizza spot with serious pies!

We ordered the special and the clam pie. Both came out with the perfect char on the crust side, the pizza itself was very generously topped. Each bite was so full of flavor and I can definitely see why Zuppardi’s has such a following. Honestly, this is up there if not is better than the famous New Haven spots. Definitely would come by again and try other pies.

The service is also very good making our waitresses was always making sure we were enjoying the food and asked if checked if we needed anything else.

Stopped here on our way to jersey. Got the pepperoni and garlic pizza. It was EXCELLENT!! Had Modern last week, which was also EXCELLENT!! I think I need to give an extra call out for Zuppardi’s. It was a tough decision, but a big part of it was the cheese in the shaker, which I’m pretty sure it’s Romano instead of parm. Love Romano, like parm. The Romano gets the extra point(s). Will definitely repeat!

Some meals are about the food. Others are about the people. This one was both.

I’ve been blessed to sit at a table with these guys for more than 50 years, and we make it a point to get together monthly for lunch. We call ourselves the Slice Mob, a standing date built around friendship, conversation, and wherever the pizza takes us. This time, that place was Zuppardi’s Apizza, and it showed up exactly the way a Connecticut apizza institution should.

We ordered a mix, but the standouts were the escarole and bean with sausage and the house special with cherry peppers. The escarole pie is everything that works about old-school combinations: bitter greens, creamy beans, savory sausage, all balanced and never heavy. The house special brings just enough heat, those cherry peppers cut through the richness and keep every bite lively.

The crust deserves its own moment. Properly charred where it should be, sturdy without being tough, with that telltale snap on the bottom that says this pizza comes from people who know exactly what they’re doing. No gimmicks. No trends. Just decades of muscle memory and pride.

Zuppardi’s isn’t chasing hype, it’s preserving tradition. And when you’re sitting around a table with lifelong friends, sharing monthly meals as the Slice Mob, eating apizza rooted in place and history, that matters.

Any time is the right time for apizza. Zuppardi’s proves it.

First time venturing away from Wooster St. for New Haven pizza. Aesthetically a similar old-school environment which I love. The service was great and atmosphere was very charming. They do not short change you on toppings on the pizza. Each slice is loaded. The crust was very good as well. Each pizza place has its own character and this one certainly has its own that makes it distinguishable. Really enjoyed the visit here!

The abeetz (pizza) was fantastic. We got the small escarole and white bean, and the everything fresh. They were both delicious. The crust is thin and has a great chew and flavor. They get that crust crisp and just “burnt” on edges. Perfectly done!!
Save room for dessert. Their cannoli are some of the best. I had never had cannoli with cinnamon, this was unexpected and now is my favorite. I wish we lived closer to have this more often, but my waistline is good that we are 40 minutes away.
90 years in business, certainly the test of time shows this is a must go if you haven’t been yet.

Good size pizza even if you order a size small, tons of topping options, and impactful flavors. The slice is thin with a slightly thicker crust, which can be hard to eat with the weight of the toppings. The slices are kind of cut a little funny though, and it was hard to eat on the table as they had a little tray for the two pizzas, but when I was on the bottom, which was harder to access at times. This is my first time trying New Haven pizza, certainly won’t be my last

Three of us were there early Saturday afternoon. Ordered the medium special (homemade sausage and mushroom) and the white clam.
Thin charred crust, delectable and fresh toppings. Best ‘apizza’ we’ve ever had.
Highly recommend this West Haven gem.
Excellent service, no frills atmosphere and get down to an amazing meal.

I had already been to Sally’s, Frank Pepe’s and Modern Apizza. A friend suggested we try this place. I went there with my family today and was glad we did. We’re from New York and were returning from a family trip from Rhode Island. There was a small line prior to opening. We had “The Special”(homemade sausage and mushrooms) and a Margherita pie. The Special was cooked perfectly and the homemade sausage was really delicious. The Margherita pie was a little overcooked but still tasted really good. I really liked the crust on The Special. The pizza here is very good but New York pizza is better. Of course, this is my opinion. Some may disagree. At some point I may check out some other New Haven pizzerias. So I went here again a few days ago and we tried a clam pie. It has fresh shucked clams. It was really delicious and was cooked perfectly. Maybe a bit too much garlic. We squeezed some lemon juice on the pie to tone down the garlic. Still highly recommended. We had another Special and it was cooked perfectly and delicious.
