Had the opportunity to visit Z’s Char Dogs recently and wanted to share a review.
If are near the IL-Wisconsin border, chain of lakes area and are in the mood for a hot dog give this place a try.
As posted, this is a small family run business, You should consult the posted hours (see picture included) because they do close early on certain days.
I enjoyed the chili dog with onions and also ordered a regular hot dog with all the fixings.
The fries are crispy and cooked to golden perfection.
Stop in soon you will not be disappointed. Cash is preferred, credit cards are a 3% fee.

Great place to pick up a delicious hotdog or a polish dog made your way. Great fries and freshing cold can of soda. Only outdoor shaded seating is available. There are no restrooms unless you ask to use the restrooms at the gas station right next door. Credit cards accepted. Plenty of parking.

Dingy and dirty. I have tried to give this place a chance more than once. Every time the food has been awful. Crusty stale bun and cold greasy fries. Way too expensive for a poorly put together dog on a stale bun with some soggy greasy fries. Just t what’s visible from the outside is enough to know how filthy the inside is.

Great tasting food! If I am ever in the area again, I would definitely stop here for their charred hotdogs. They had fries that were firm and crispy on the outside and soft and hot on the inside. Perfect.

My boss wanted to eat here a couple of days ago so we stopped for lunch while running errands. Then yesterday I stopped while driving the boss black dodge ram which was overheating to let it cool down. I got 2 Chicago style hot dogs and one hot dog with onions and mustard for boss with fries and soda for 18 bucks good deal. The ladies there r usually really quick with making the food really good .

We’ve eaten alot of hot dogs in our days and char dogs is right up there with the best we’ve had..the dogs are fresh and the fries come out piping hot..we love being able to eat outside at the tables..this place is a must visit if you’re in the area!!
