Despite having been years since I dined here, I found Zio Johno’s to still be a good choice for dinner.
My server was very friendly and patient with me. The garlic bread was delicious, crisp but still soft and warm.
I was torn between getting a personal pizza or the Chicken Parmesan. Ultimately, I chose the latter and it was very tasty. My chicken came in a large portion and was fresh out of the fryer, crispy and golden brown with plenty of melted cheese while being juicy and tender on the inside.
The spaghetti was plentiful and had no shortage of sauce.
Overall, I had a good time here. I’ll be sure to dine in again if I have a craving for Italian food.

Ordered the manicotti, it was hot and delicious. My daughter ordered the spaghetti, which was enough to feed three people! The garlic bread is so good and we ordered salads and those were delicious and plentiful and the ranch dressing is the bomb! The service was great, highly recommend. The owner also thanked us for coming when we were walking out the door which is always a nice touch.

Their Gondolas are superb! It is a long time favorite of ours in Marion, IA! Been going back for decades now.
– Gondola Sub: Absolute best thing on their menu! Their bread is famous and the sandwich fillings make it even better. Get it with mayo and tomato if you like that kind of thing. Even chipotle sauce is great with it.
– Spaghetti in a Bucket (Family Size): Delicious. The bucket comes filled to the brim. It has all the hallmarks of a good spaghetti with noodles cooked just right and sauce with a good blend of tomato and seasoning. It was spot on. Many people love the spaghetti and my kids ask for it when we are in town.
– Meatballs: HUGE. I mean MASSIVE. They are something along the lines of 2-3 inches wide. The seasoning is amazing. The meat is tender and cooked perfectly.
– Cheese Bread: Amazing. I am not typically a fan of cheese bread, but I was told to try it. I was not disappointed. It was just the right proportion of cheese to bread, warm (even with carry out), soft, and tasty.
– Garlic Bread: Slightly more on the garlic side, which I like. Their bread is famous in town and is great.
– Cinnamon Bread: This was a surprisingly good option. It was a bit on the heavier side with cinnamon and sugar, but not too bad. It was soft and a great treat.
– Salad: Fresh, crispy, and delicious. The ranch is particularly tasty.
– Beef Ravioli with Meat Sauce: Good. There was plenty of sauce. The ravioli itself was delicious, but they did stick together.
– Service: Quick and friendly. They always take care to get everything right and it shows. Super great people who know how to make the experience wonderful!
– Atmosphere: We typically order take out, but the dining area is pretty cool with Mediterranean and European emphasis. It is clean and well organized.
– Conclusion: We have ordered take out, but also catered for a retreat. They always do a great job with everything. Many people commented at the retreat they remembered Zio’s as a great restaurant and they loved the food.

I went to pick up my carry out pizza on a Tuesday night and the place was packed, and 10 people were waiting to pick up. Clearly this is a local favorite and has really rebounded after Covid. We like the Mediterranean pizza best. Their bread is a must-have at least once in your lifetime…try it as garlic bread or pizza crust. It had a unique, sweet taste. Gondolas with that bread are an easy crowd pleaser.

Great food and good location. Bread is very good. I like having a dinner salad with my meal and it’s always been good. Family spaghetti dinner is a good deal for take out. Price is reasonable. Nicely decorated inside.

I don’t live in Marion any longer, but I was in the area and treated myself to a late dinner at Zio Johno’s. Grace was my server, and was prompt with my my ice tea and meal. There was no waiting (weeknight). The fresh hot garlic bread was amazing and fluffy. And the lasagna was delicious. Everything is always a treat to your palate here.

Had the Parmigiano Shrimp appetizer, served on a bed of Spaghetti. Tasty! Very good pizza. We tried 3 kinds, and liked them all. Nice bottle of Italian Chianti, 2021 Bell’Agio. Cheescake was good, Chocolate Cake was a little dry. Good service. Reasonable cost for 3 people, including gratuity, $40 each, and plenty of leftovers

Even with a double checking to be told everything is correct to get all the way home and there is meat on my pasta when I’m a 8 year vegetarian Who is also pregnant I can get very sick.
