Good coffee and ice cream. Enjoyed the ginger scone, too, but it wasn’t anything special, I’m afraid. But the whole compound is so much fun and very inviting. Staff was excellent. Disappointed that they’re not open earlier in the morning since the bagels look like the real deal but I would absolutely come back again!

I went in for a quick coffee before work and the place had a calm, easygoing vibe. The barista greeted me right away and helped me pick something since I wasn’t sure what to order. I got a medium roast and it tasted fresh, not too strong but still had good flavor. The shop itself was clean and there were a few people working on laptops which made it feel relaxed. My order took a few minutes but nothing unreasonable. Prices seemed pretty normal for a coffee shop around here. Overall it was a good experience and I’d likely come back when I’m in the area again.

It also makes the perfect after-meal treat — or if you’re waiting around, you can totally grab a slice of cake or some ice cream to try! ⏳ A sweet little pick-me-up that makes the experience even better ✨

I ordered the corned beef hash burrito ($9), karma sutra ($5, hot chocolate with coconut, cardamom), citrus roll $3, ginger scone $4, all for the price of what one sandwich would cost at the deli next door.

The burrito was excellent and scratched my corned beef craving just right, definitely improved with a Lil hot sauce. I went for hot chocolate since its all homemade and was so stunned by the depths of flavor to the cocoa and the yummy balance with coconut and cardamom. The ginger scone had a nice bake on the outside and inside, but the inside was not as tall as I’m used to on a scone, was looking for more fluffiness. The citrus roll was ok, good if you need a citrus hit but pretty middle of the road. Highly recommend the burritos and hot chocolate. Try something fun from the bakery case and see how it goes. All for the price of one sandwich next door.

Everything a coffee shop should be. They have a bit of everything to offer. Fresh baked pastry, one of the best chocolate sections in town. Every one is super friendly and there is plenty of seating upstairs.

Where do I begin? We have come here as a family for many years due to the wonderful food .. but the one lack of this establishment has always been the service. While nobody’s been outright “rude” to us, the staff is just overall unfriendly .. they lack that “sets you apart customer service”…until Asha arrived ! WHAT AN AMAZING CONTRIBUTION this beautiful human being is to Zingermans! She is FRIENDLY, beautiful, thorough, kind, suggestive in ordering, accurate- NEVER misses anything and an all around blessing to have as our cashier when we come now . God broke the mold with that one! Every establishment should take note and get themselves and Asha!

Zingerman’s Next Door Café is such a delightful spot—tucked inside a charming single-family house-style building, it’s cozy, quirky, and full of character. They specialize in distinctive and creative takes on chocolate, coffee, hot chocolate, and ice cream.

I tried the Mayan Eyes hot chocolate—made with dark chocolate and spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, chipotle, and ancho chiles. It’s got a real kick! Spicy but deliciously warming and complex. I also picked up two chocolate bars: one mango chili and one hot paprika. Super excited to try them—Zingerman’s definitely doesn’t play it safe with flavors, and I love that.

It’s a fun and flavorful place for anyone who enjoys bold sweets and thoughtful drinks. Highly recommend stopping by!

Looking for a unique gift for a food lover, or adding to your own enjoyment, this is the location.
The deli is a delight , a unique selection of treats.
The best part is you are in a historical area of Ann Arbor, established 1982. The staff is the special touch here.

Outside eating and inside dine in as well. My tip is eat upstairs they have outside tables. The sunsets are a gift.

The food has quality ingredients great balance of flavors.

This location is self ordering then you find a seat to relax.

Five stars for Asha and the incredible atmosphere she brings! Asha’s service makes coming to the Cafe Next Door worth the while. The pastries and drinks are amazing as well, but nothing beats Asha and her positivity!!

Tried out a few times. The sandwiches are good, but quite expensive. The variety of pastries is lovely. Their bagels are ok, but made worse by their use of cream cheese that has been frozen. Frozen cream cheese acquires a sour taste and crumbly texture, and is pretty easily detectable by taste test. Really disappointing.
