Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Virginia!
This place has such an authentic and cozy vibe with cute fireplaces inside to keep you warm. They start you off with warm bread served with oil, cheese, and pepper which was so good. The drink menu is really unique too. We tried the Caramel Apple Martini and the Chocolatini, and both were amazing.

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, which was pretty good, but the pasta truly stole the show. We got the Shrimp alla Vodka and the Shrimp Alfredo (subbed with chicken), and both were absolutely out of this world. The pasta was incredibly fresh, and the vodka sauce was honestly the best I’ve ever had. Even the fish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

The service was excellent and they even packaged our leftovers for us at the table. Prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality of food and experience.

Had Calamari, Portabella Mushrooms & Mussels and a bottle of Moscato. Arrived 30 minutes before closing but the service was outstanding. The atmosphere was great. The wine was amazing and ended up ordering another bottle.

Zia Marie’s is hands down the best Italian restaurant on Shore Drive. Me and my family have been going here for years, and it’s always delicious. The pizza, the pasta, the entrées everything is amazing. My personal favorite is the bolognese, which is always rich, flavorful, and perfect every time.

They also have a nice patio that’s great for sitting outside on a nice night, and the service is always friendly and on point.

If you’re craving Italian on Shore Drive, this is the place. Consistent, cozy, and absolutely delicious.

Zia’s used to be a great local place to get a decent meal. What a fall from grace. It never fails that we are seated in the lobby. They have decided to place 4 tables in the lobby. When we went over the summer, I had the ceiling AC dripping on me, they were kind enough to scoot the table over. Last night it was 40 degrees out. The little space heater was not enough to keep me warm, while I dined in the lobby and guests cane in and out the front door.

Our waitress could not care less about being there. We ordered a greek salad to start, dressing on the side. The dressing was on the salad, low quality dry feta, and there was a massive amount of dried oregano poured on the top. It was all you could taste. We then ordered the eggplant parm with penne aglio olio on the side. It came out with spaghetti. When the waitress came back with the penne, it was just overcooked penne with breadcrumbs. There was zero olive oil or garlic. Their eggplant used to be beautiful thin slices of eggplant with a light crispy breading. They have now changed their breading to a very thick heavy breading. I paid $23 for breading parmigiana. You could not even taste eggplant.

What a disappointment. We have been going here for dates for years. I was getting tired of always getting seated in the lobby (we are always told we can not be moved when asked), but now that the food is terrible too, there is no reason to return.

Arrived with reservations on Christmas Eve at 6pm. My family and myself were sat right away , and took around 7 minutes to get our drink order. My mother and myself had ordered the shrimp fry Diablo, mine came out and looked halfway decent, then in the other hand my mothers looked like ramen soup. Will never go back and fake Italian food.

My husband and I recently ate at Zia Marie’s because they were one of the few restaurants open on a Monday evening. To my surprise, the food was excellent.
I ordered the Veal Saltimbocco which did not disappoint. It was tender and topped with prosciutto and cheese. Yum!!! My husband ordered the cheese tortellini with Bolognese sauce. He thought it was delicious and ate the entire dish which was a generous portion.
An added bonus was that the wine was on special so we only paid half price for a decent bottle of wine. The service was also very good. The place was packed so the volume of noise was a little loud but that’s to be expected when a place is this good.

Made the reservation. Arrived at the restaurant at the time of the reservation, roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes later. After waiting another 17 minutes,we were finally seated. This was after watching several couples and groups be seated. I seriously nearly left. Ridiculous service. Blase attitude. Atmosphere not great. Customers were Very VERY loud and the server was standard NOT impressive. Food. Okay. Cleanliness subpar.

If you like real Italian (and we’re from New England) you gotta go here. It’s incredible. The service is amazing. I hesitate to ya how good this place is cuz I don’t want yall blowing up my favorite spot but it wouldn’t be just if I didn’t give them their due. This place is awesome.

The service didn’t hit the bar tonight, my first time here. The waitress barely checked in on us, my water glass had another persons lipstick imprint still on the glass (hard to see in the photo). I came to eat but honestly my first 20 min was so poor I only ordered a Greek salad as I was to worried the other 25+ dollar meals would be as poor as the service .
For context.. I actually decided while we waited 35-40 min for our food to get an appetizer to come out with my food.. but the waitress doesn’t know that because she never came to check up on us u til just before our food came out …
Didn’t ask if I wanted another glass of wine.. nothing .. if nothing else as a business I would be asking if you want another cocktail , anything.
The lasagna my wife got was very burnt on top and crusted , and what I expected I would have gotten if I ordered a main entree..
The only reason we came here was because coastal grille down the street was booked.. take the 3 mile drive and go there instead.. it’ll be worth it

Hayley was our server….reservation was 8:30…..after waiting an hour for our food….my husband mentioned the wait time to a cook….she came out very UNPROFESSIONAL to make excuses for her being in the weeds…. asked for the front of the manager…and she as well made excuses for her server. Soooooo….thanks for a great Valentines day experience. We will not be back. We tip well…..you should’ve done your job! We have experience as servers in our younger life…..dont you want your servers to be busy. Never have empty hands in the restaurant business! Why would I make a reservation to be treated poorly. If we did that in our professional lives, we wouldn’t have anything…..we started at that point…..usually understanding….but business needs to operate without excuses.
