However, over the past few months, I’ve noticed a consistent drop in the quantity of Spicy Basil Rice in takeout orders. Until last year, the box used to be completely filled. Recently, the portion has been noticeably less compared to what it used to be.
I called the restaurant to check if this was a one-time mistake and was connected to the manager. I politely explained that I’m a regular customer and asked if something had changed. I was told that the rice is always measured using the same bowl before being packed. While I understand that explanation, there was no acknowledgment of the concern, nor any willingness to verify it (for example, asking me to revisit or share a photo).
Paying around $15 for that quantity doesn’t feel worth it, especially for a place where the dine-in atmosphere and interiors are fairly average. When it comes to takeout, value matters. Price, taste, quantity, and service should balance out. Zenna still delivers on taste, but unfortunately, service and portion consistency have taken a hit recently.
Posting this here so other regular customers are aware.
Hostess was awful, everything else was incredible!
EXPERIENCE:
Rosa at the front desk left a lot to be desired – with a table of 8 coming, I arrived first and asked to be seated. She straight out said No. I asked if I could be seated alone, to get a glass of water (it was a long day and I drove quite a ways).. also No. She said I could not be seated until at least 3 people from my party had arrived. Why 3? If 3, then why not 1? No clue. Another ridiculous policy that only serves to ruin the customers experience. Especially with her nonchalant attitude about it. Oh well.
After that, our server was AWESOME! And the food was incredible, and authentic (our family is from Thailand).
We had the Kow Ka Moo, Rice Porridge, Pad Thai, and Som Tum. The black sticky rice custard dessert, although not authenticaly Thai, was yummy.
Food was good, no doubt. We ordered Spicy Thai basil fried rice, miso soup, chicken broccoli with passion fruit margarita & coconut water. While the soup and the food were very good but Imy friend didn’t like the drink and coconut water that much. The server and the ambience are good, family friendly. Will try again in future.
They are open till 3AM so this place has always been my togo place when it’s late for dinner.
I have water in my eyes. It’s so spicy. And I have a condition to where I can’t even eat spicy.
We were seated immediately, and our server was quick with menus and took our order within 5 minutes of sitting down.
My husband got the yellow tail sushi roll and a side of steamed Gyoza. Bothe were very good.
I ordered the Thai noodles with chicken and #3 spice level. It was a huge portion with lots of flavor. The heat level was a little low for my liking, but I never know how they actually measure their spiciness. I would probably get a 5 next time, but all of it was delicious.
The service is always excellent, and the food is always consistent.
