Definitely the best food court sushi I’ve ever had. High quality, great variety, and fast service even during the massive weekday lunch rush. They definitely have their workflow ironed out. You have to be quick to grab the things you like, but I think you can also order certain things you don’t see but would like to have with the QR codes. I’m not too sure bc there were no instructions and they’re so busy during lunch that it doesn’t feel like you have the chance to ask. A little pricey but you’re in FiDi so everything is gonna be more expensive for what you get

I visit the zen Kyoto location at first Canadian three times a week and have never had a bad experience.. until today. There was a huge fishbone in the salmon which ended up piercing my gums. Not a pleasant experience. Please be careful when eating and watch for fish bones 🙁

Zen Kyoto is located in the path at first Canadian place which makes it a great location for lunch if you work in the area. That being said, there is typically a long line up at lunch time which means i usually avoid it for lunch.
However, I decided to try picking up a couple rolls for dinner last week. I tried the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls ($8 are $12 respectively). Both these are my go to rolls when trying a take away sushi spot.
At first glance the quality of the maki is noticeable in a good way. The fish is chunky and plentiful and it was nice to see limited mayo/sauce being used here.
The salmon was sweet and not fishy at all. The taste of the fish comes through well as there was only a little crunch and sauce added. To me this is the way to enjoy good quality fish that is not masked by condiments.
The tuna was fantastic too. This roll has more crunch which went well with the fresh tuna. Enjoyed this one more than the salmon as it’s not as sweet in flavour.
Overall, this is a great spot for take out sushi. I’m definitely coming by again.

My go to take out for lunch whenever I’m in the area. It’s fairly priced and tastes great. They offer a selection of sushi and side dishes along with meals such as chicken katsu don. Their main menu isn’t something to write home about, with only a handful of rice dishes to choose from. However, it’s more than enough and great for a quick pit stop for anyone with a limited lunch break.
My usual lunch time is 2pm, and it’s when the lunch crowds starts slowing down. I recommend to avoid this Bay-Adelaide food courts entirely during lunch time, as office workers would make it hard to find seats. Any time before 12pm or after 1:30pm is when I would recommend to come try this place out. If you work in the area and have a set lunch break, then this advice is irrelevant to you.

Great sushi and great service. Mayo is kinda unnecessary on the Dynamite roll, but otherwise pleased.

Wow….I can’t believe the quality of the sushi here from a “food court” restaurant. I had the Tako Wasabi which was excellent. The octopus had the perfect texture and awesome flavors. The absolute star of the meal was the Deluxe Chirashi Don….wow wow wow. Everything in it was SOOO fresh and flavourful….couldn’t believe there was some gold leaf in there too….nice touch. You need to try this place. Enjoy!!!

I love their chu toro, fresh, melt in mouth, but very limited in store! Sashimi salad bowl, all fresh and the sauce mix is good match.

I’m writing to express our sincere appreciation for the consistently excellent service and food we receive from Zen Kyoto. Our office frequently orders for work meetings, and we have always been extremely satisfied.
The sushi is always fresh and delicious, and customer service is outstanding. In particular, Iris is an absolute pleasure to work with; she is consistently accommodating, even with our last-minute changes.
Zen Kyoto has become a definite office favourite.

Got a box of sushi for $26. Presentation and visual is great but the fish was chewy, and rice kept sticking to the bottom of the container so you can’t eat the roll easily. Price doesn’t make sense for what you get.
