Food was generic, nothing special. The salad they provided was just gross. I think it was frozen then thawed, it was wilted. They only gave me 3 small pieces of chicken and it was dry plus the rice was drenched with the sauce of the chicken (which I believe was teriyaki). Salad dressing was good though. The shrimp, i don’t know if they cook it themselves or buy frozen because the inside was still a little cold but aside from that it was the best part of the bento in my opinion. It was definitely worth the try but I don’t think I will frequent this store. They did prepare my food pretty quick so they hold up on the fast food part.

Very nice casual quick stop. Everything is thoughtfully prepared and perfectly seasoned. The kale salad was a pleasant and delicious surprise. Overall a great option in the neighborhood.

Me and my daughter are enjoying the new burgers on the menu. I’ve been coming to Zen for many many years. These folk always evolving. Try the loaded fries. Omg.

I have eaten at Zen many times and usually meet with a group of friends for lunch there. It is always consistent and very timely. They offer sushi pre-boxed in the open fridge in front and many bowls that are quite lovely. My favorites are the Mussels from Brussels and The Schoolgirl. I have a lot of friends who enjoy their burger selection and also their noodle selection. Their udon noodles look very legit and though I don’t eat them, my friends who do really like them and say they are very authentic.

Excellent food at a reasonable price! The staff is friendly and will assist you. You order at the counter, and they bring it to your table. I built my bowl. I had chicken as my protein. I got the ninja veggies with schezuan sauce on kale. It was spicy and delicious. If you haven’t tried Zen, then I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

At one time over the years I really enjoyed eating at Zen. The last couple of times, not so much. I always order a BYOB with salmon. Some years ago they changed the noodles (skinny) to udon noodles (fat and doughy). Okay. Today when I order my regular item, the teriyaki sauce was thick and sooooo salty. I called to ask about this. “Has there been a change with the sauce? Why is it thick? Why is it excessively salty?” I was told it was the temperature. When the sauce is cool it thickens. I’ve never heard of such a thing. The noodles and salmon were hot (normal eating temp). Teriyaki sauce in the store doesn’t thicken, even at room temperature it doesn’t. Needless to say, I didn’t get to eat my lunch. Sidenote: the potstickers were great! Wonderful presentation and very tasty.

I used to come here all the time, but for some reason they have downsized the containers for BYOB bowls, and the service. My food say on the counter open for at least 5 minutes, which is unacceptable, and when I asked about it, the young lady stated that’s how they do it, which I guess they do now, but they didn’t used to. The food is good just not enough.

If you want fast food that’s fresh and healthy check out Zen Japanese. I’ve been coming here since 2017 but they’ve been around for way longer (2006?). I always get the build your own bowl and I’ve never been disappointed.

The spicy chicken was good! The potstickers were a little bland. The real issue, however, was the persistent fruit flies swarming out table and trying to get into my food. I moved tables during my meal to try to get away and had no luck. I took my meal to go because it was grossing me out and ruining my appetite. Wish I would’ve looked for a health rating first.

The food is great. I’ve eaten here many times and tried several different bowls. I have never been disappointed. The schoolgirl bowl is my absolute favorite. The atmosphere is great and has a small feel. They are almost always playing anime on a TV in the corner too.
