I am visiting for the weekend and hungry, decided to grab a bowl. I get rice, chicken, cucumber salad, red cabbage and red onions. We get to the sauces and I don’t know what they are. I ask what they are, he says the names but the restaurant is crowded and loud. I ask again and he seems irritated. So I go for what I know and point to the bottle of white sauce and get that.
He looks at his coworker, whom shrugs his shoulders, he rolls his eyes irritatedly and adds my sauce to my bowl. Im like Damn, all this attitude for what.
I asked for a hibiscus drink. Which he asked his coworker to get. My drink was made and just sat on the back counter for a minute until he told the worker was for me. And he responded with a shocked look , like oh her!
Idk, the whole encounter and attitude and expressions were super unnecessary when you could be explaining your options to a person who has clearly never been to your restaurant before.
I wont be back if in town.
Adding the sauce names to the window with the ingredients listed would help if customer service won’t.
Great food though!! My bowl was fire! He was skimpy with the white sauce.
$3 a pop it better be.
But it was really really fresh . Have it with the chipotle sauce and you are set for life !!!
Zawadi was very good. Setup like a Chipotle or Subway, you pick your bowl. There are rice and or bean options. Then you pick a protein which included chicken and beef as well as vegetarian option of roasted cauliflower and plantains. Next you to choose from a large assortment of toppings such as cheese, chopped tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, etc. Finally you get to choose from a long list of sauces.
The servers were very nice with explaining the items and giving you more or less of items if you just wanted to try something.
I went with the sumac chicken on saffron rice. I ended up getting the red sauce and the green sauces that were not in the squirt bottles. The red sauce was super tasty and had a slow build of heat. The green was more fresh and herbal.
As mentioned before, the servers were very friendly, helpful and generous. I can’t wait for them to open up a location in Sacramento!
