The service was excellent, the staff extremely friendly & welcoming, very attentive, they could not do enough to make ourr evening pleasant &’enjoyable, great customer service.
Now the food , the starters were very tasty, the chill dosa absolutely delicious & sweet potato bhaji very good indeed.
My husband had chicken jalfrezi, he said it was very tasty, lovely fresh flavours.
My vegetarian dish was the black lentil dish with veg puleo rice, again the taste was exquisite, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I never usually have a dessert in a restaurant but I made an exception tonight & tried the gulab with ice-cream, again a fantastic choice.
This is a very long review but we were so impressed & delighted with our evening that we cannot wait to return. Highly recommended. Thank-you to Zamorins., we shall see you soon.
We were recommended by friends to give this Kerala-specialised Indian Cuisine a try – they describe it as the most authentic it can get to the actual Kerala experience (I’ve travelled to Kerala before, and loved every bit of my experience there. The food is heavenly). Since we were already in Whitley Bay for a walk to get Baby Ru some fresh sea air, we thought, why not Zamorins.
Our friends were right.
The very first sides served along with the papadoms blew us away! Extremely rich and spicy, like none I’ve had before – the chef recommended ‘Kerala Fish Pickle’ and ‘Pineapple Pickle’ were out of the world. If you like spicy, tangy sour and you like fish, you MUST have this.
The Zamorins Vegetable Briyani was a first for us – generous with condiments, standing out because of the nuts. Loved it. We also had the Goan Monk Fish Curry – I thought it’d be more coconut milk based as I remember in Kerala, but still, pleasant to the tongue. This was also accompanied by the Malai Methi Mushroom Methi, and 2 mocktails – the Virgin Alphonso and the Malabar Mind.
The founders of Zamorins, Nebu & Viju, have been friends since their days in Kerala as students, all the way to Geordieland. Nearly 20 good years later, they start up Zamorins – and have been serving loyal patrons – some which travel regularly from Newcastle for their Keralan delights in Whitley Bay.
Definitely recommended – especially if you want to experience authentic Indian cusine from Kerala
The moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance, creating a delightful atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the food! Every dish I ordered was an explosion of flavors. The authenticity and quality of the South Indian cuisine served here definitely surpassed my expectations.
However, it wasn’t just the food that impressed me. The service was impeccable. The staff at Zamorins were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Their promptness and hospitality added an extra layer of enjoyment to the mea
