I started with the cucumber mint limonada, which was incredibly refreshing. Their signature tahdig was crispy, flavorful, and still warm when it arrived — absolute perfection. The hummus and eggplant dip were both seasoned so well. I also had the cheese cigars, which were fresh, perfectly crispy, and absolutely delicious.
For the main course, I tried the chicken kebab and the lamb/beef kebab, both seasoned to perfection and paired with fragrant, flavorful rice. And to end on a sweet note, the pistachio baklava was the perfect finale — light, nutty, and complimented the main course so well.
It’s so clear that every dish is made with love, passion, and care. Between the warm ambiance, thoughtful service, and incredible food, Zaffron Bloom made for a perfect lunch — and I can’t wait to come back!
We started with kashke bademjan, a warm eggplant dip topped with caramelized onions, dried mint, and tangy kashk. The silky eggplant had a deep roasted flavor, perfectly balanced by the bright, slightly sour whey sauce and the gentle crunch of fried onions. It paired beautifully with the soft, warm pita bread.
The tahdig with ghormeh sabzi was a standout—a golden, crispy rice crust layered with the rich, herb-packed Persian stew of slow-cooked beef, kidney beans, parsley, cilantro, fenugreek, and dried lime. The contrast of textures—the crunch of tahdig against the tender meat and greens—was pure comfort food.
For a refreshing counterpoint, the mast-o-khiar brought thick, creamy yogurt with diced cucumber and dried mint. Its cool, tangy profile made it the perfect palate cleanser between richer bites.
The salad olivieh—a Persian chicken and potato salad with peas, carrots, pickles, and a mayonnaise-based dressing—was hearty yet bright, with the pickles adding a welcome tang to cut through the creaminess.
For mains, we enjoyed two classics. The chicken kebab platter featured juicy saffron-marinated chicken cubes with fluffy basmati rice streaked in vibrant saffron, plus a smoky charred tomato. The koobideh kebab platter delivered a perfectly seasoned ground beef skewer—tender, flavorful, and just smoky enough—served with the same saffron rice and grilled tomato. Both came with a garden sumac salad, a crisp mix of lettuce, tomato, and onion tossed with tangy sumac for freshness and balance.
We sat outside in perfect summer weather, which made the experience even more memorable. Every dish was flavorful, portions were generous, and service was warm. This was a detour we were very glad we made—Zaffron Bloom truly delivers authentic Persian taste.
What makes this place even more special is that it’s 100% family-run and you can genuinely taste the love in every bite. If you’re lucky enough to live nearby (we happily make the drive in from Jersey City), and haven’t stopped in yet, do yourself a favor and go. You’ll only wish you had discovered it sooner. Zaffron Bloom is a true gem in every way.
Had a wonderful experience at this charming, family-run restaurant. It felt like I was eating at a neighbor’s home — the warmth and hospitality were genuine and heartfelt. The entire restaurant is run by a mother-daughter duo, and you can truly taste the love and authenticity in every dish. The mom does all the cooking, and the daughter, who was our hostess, was so gracious and welcoming.
As a vegetarian, I was delighted with the flavorful options. We originally went for the Persian rice (which was fantastic!), but I recommend going with a group of four or more so you can sample a variety of dishes — everything we tried was delicious!
The tea was exceptional, and they went out of their way to accommodate our needs. It’s rare to find places like this anymore — true mom-and-pop restaurants serving real, home-cooked meals. A must-visit spot! Let’s support them and make sure they stay in business!
