I tried Zad’s new fusion item for lunch, lamb tacos, and they were unbelievably delicious. Braised lamb tucked in a warm corn tortilla, topped with sumac onions and finished with ZAD’s special sauce. The flavor is superb and the portions of lamb were very generous. Try these lamb tacos next time you stop by at ZAD. You’ll definitely enjoy them!

Absolutely my go-to for Mediterranean food on the North Shore!
Zad by Pita Inn has become my favorite Mediterranean restaurant, and that’s saying something. When my friends visit from Germany, they specifically ask to go here because the food is just that good – that’s always a great sign!
This location offers a broader and more complex menu compared to the regular Pita Inn down the street (they’re the same business), and they recently renovated the interior which looks absolutely beautiful now. The space really complements the gorgeous food they’re serving.
My go-to order is the braised lamb served over rice with their slow-cooked vegetables – the flavors are incredible and everything is so tender and perfectly seasoned. They’re generous with the rice portions too, which I appreciate. I also always get the hummus topped with shawarma, and it never disappoints. All the salads and side dishes are exceptional and you can level up your meal with the home-made garlic sauce.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.
Everything is made fresh with such clear attention to detail, and the quality is consistently excellent. The care they put into each dish really shows.
If you’re looking for exceptional Mediterranean food in Skokie, Zad is the place. Highly recommended!

This was our first time trying this place! Lamb wrap was superb! So moist and fabulous! Ground kabob was also tasty and a quart of lentil soup actually had pieces of vegetables, which was great! It’s on the pricier side than your average middle eastern takeout place, but the food does not taste like your average middle eastern place either.. sooo much better! We also requested some modifications, which they actually did, so that was also pleasant. Girl on the phone was knowledgeable and immediately knew what awesome item to substitute for when they were out of one thing that we ordered. Highly recommend!

We had a party of 4 for dinner on a late Saturday afternoon. All of our food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. The restaurant staff were all very friendly and asked several times to ensure that we were delighted with our food. We were!! We were also lucky enough to be asked to sample some new dishes and sauces that will be added in the future, Both the muhammara and the tabouleh salad were excellent. The pistachio baklava with a layer of chocolate was incredible! We tasted about 5 new sauces and most of us loved most of them (some were too spicy for 2 of our party). The atmosphere is fairly basic, but comfortable and very clean. They appear to do a busy carryout business. I wish we had thought to take photos of the food since it looked as great as it tasted. Very highly recommended if you like great Middle Eastern foods.

The dish was bursting with flavor a perfect blend of fresh, roasted veggies like zucchini, eggplant, and bell peppers, all served with a side of savory Majudara rice which was bursting with flavor a perfect blend of tender lentils, rice, topped with caramelized onions. Every bite was a warm, comforting hug for your taste buds!
Not only was the platter delicious, but the portion size was generous. It was so filling that I could barely finish it all in one sitting, but I sure tried! Excellent quality! Love the lamb with stewed veggies, the lentil soup is the best I’ve had, the chicken shawarma is excellent, also the falafel is always fresh. ALWAYS good!!!
