I actually really like the dishes here at Yunan Restaurant. The spicy food is actually spicy. The cold dishes are $9.99 for 3 meat portions. Rice is separately charged.

My go-to dish is the water-boiled fish (filet in chili oil). My favorite cold dishes are the sliced potato, pig ear, and beef slices.

Parking lot is in the back. You can also park on the street.

The food was delicious and very affordable! We really enjoyed the Crossing Bridge Noodles and the cold tofu skin salad — fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The portion size was generous too.

However, the restaurant could be a bit cleaner. The bathroom, in particular, wasn’t well maintained, which slightly took away from the overall dining experience.

That said, we’ll still come back for the food — just hope they improve the cleanliness!

I absolutely love this Yunnan Restaurant, and it has become one of my favorite places to visit whenever I want truly authentic Chinese food. What really stands out to me are their cold dishes (liang cai). They are incredibly fresh, well-seasoned, and full of traditional flavors that you usually can’t find in typical American Chinese restaurants. Every bite reminds me of real Chinese home-style cooking.

I often stop by here to pick up a few cold dishes to take home, especially when I plan to relax with a drink in the evening. Pairing their cold dishes with some wine or beer is perfect, and it has become a small ritual for me. The flavors are bold but balanced—savory, spicy, tangy, and refreshing at the same time. You can really taste the care and authenticity in the preparation.

This restaurant is genuinely authentic Chinese cuisine, not Americanized Chinese food. From the ingredients to the seasoning style, everything feels true to traditional Chinese cooking, especially Yunnan-style flavors. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, making it great for both dining in and takeout.

The quality is consistently excellent, and the food never disappoints. If you are looking for real Chinese flavors and especially love cold dishes, this place is a must-visit. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates authentic Chinese food. I will definitely keep coming back again and again.

Yunnan cuisine is renowned for its pickled pepper, and this establishment does not disappoint.

The food was delectable, featuring a harmonious balance of spiciness and sourness that left me craving more. Despite my request for additional spiciness, the dish was perfectly balanced.

The service was attentive, and the ambiance was inviting. The establishment provided ample parking space.

I took my family to Yunnan Restaurant last weekend. It was hard to find parking in the rear parking lot, and the spaces were tight. We got the last parking space. But you could also park on the street. We ordered the following items: 1) Yunnan House Special Rice Noodle in Chicken Broth $15.99 2-3) two orders of dry noodles with fried ground pork & brown sauce (Zhajiangmien) $12.99 x2 4) Yunnan Special fried rice noodle $13.99 5) 3 combination of the veggies cold dishes $9.99 The House Special Rice Noodle used to have a charming presentation, with the ingredients separated on another plate, but now they just put all the ingredients in the bowl. It’s now $15.99, but the ingredients were about the same as before, and they cut the meat into skinny slices. The taste was okay. I used to order this dish every time I came here. The dry noodles with fried ground pork & brown sauce were very salty, but the portion of noodles was huge. The Yunnan Special fried rice noodles tasted very bland, and the flavour was very light, so we had to mix them with the Zhajiangmien because the other one was salty. We all liked the veggie cold dishes; the portions were a good size. We picked garlic cucumber, shredded potato, and fungus radish. They were delicious. Everything was in a significant portion, so we had leftovers for another meal. However, the noodles were greasy. Overall, it was about 3.5 stars.

Surprising find of this Yunnan restaurant in San Gabriel. This restaurant specializes in round rice noodle soup. All noodle dishes made up of rice noodle and fillings. There are spicy ones and non spicy options.

The house special rice noodle was what we had for lunch. The bowl was huge and we shared among three of us. The broth was clear and delicious. The noodle were soft and chewy. We also ordered the spicy beef rice noodle as well. Unlike the taiwanese version of the spicy beef noodle, the broth was not that spicy and the beef was more bland than the heavily marinated beef in the Taiwanese noodle.

In addition to Yunnan style rice noodles, they also offer dumplings, potstickers and scallion pancakes. These are all good and tasty. I think the chef is from Northern China where the cuisine emphases spiciness and heavy sauce.

The best dish we had was their sautéed egg plant with garlic. They don’t use a lot of oil to cook the egg plant but the dish is very flavorful and tasty.

The restaurant also offers ready made to go cold dishes that include vegetables and snack foods such chili oil pig ear, chicken feet, spicy beef and tripes. For three items, they can choose any of them on display and pay only$8.99.

We also got a bag of frozen potsticker to go after lunch.

The service was very good and our server was very friendly. She speaks both mandarin and Cantonese.

The decor is more of old school as there is not much. Parking can be challenging as the 168 super market takes up most of the parking spaces.

This place specializes in authentic Yunnan cuisine, which features rice noodles, cold dishes, hot pots and more. You’ll be amazed by the variety and flavor of their dishes, which are influenced by the diverse ethnic groups and natural resources of Yunnan province in China.

I recommend starting with their cold dish appetizer, which includes a selection of meats, tofu, vegetables and noodles tossed in a tangy and numbing sauce. You can choose from different levels of spiciness, but be warned: this is not for the faint of heart. The cold dish appetizer is perfect for sharing with friends or family, or for enjoying by yourself if you’re feeling adventurous.

I ordered #18 Vegetable Noodles and it was not lacking in umami burst of flavor. Whoever said vegetables can’t be tasty? They really know how to make the vegetables taste amazing !! This restaurant has incredible bursts of flavor and umami goodness. I ordered 9 different dishes (3 combo meals x 3 side entrees) and they were all outstanding!
