Also, the tips do go to the staff.
I used to love this location and the workers there. They knew me when I walked in- I ordered the same food every time (I have a small tomato allergy). My last visit was enough to turn me from this place. I walked in and didn’t recognize anyone, which is fine it had been a while since we had ordered. My daughter has ballet and she specifically requested Your Pi food for lunch. So, at 11:50 am, I walked from ballet to the restaurant and walked in as I usually do. I was greeted (which is great). “Hi, I need a kids meal, light tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.” I wait until she cuts the dough and adds the light sauce and cheese. “5 pepperoni and Parmesan cheese.” Because kids meals only get 2 toppings and my daughter specifically likes 5 or less pepperoni (she actually does t like it, but I require a protein, so we settled on at least 5 pepperoni). I wasn’t really listening to what they were saying behind the counter, but when I move the register, the work says, “Do you want a drink with that?” And I reply, “Why? A drink comes with it.” He exchanged a look with the guy working on the dough and I reply, “I ordered a kids meal, to go, it’s the small one in the back there. It comes with a drink and a gelato. It’s a kids meal.” They give me a weird look and tell me that kids meals are for kids. So, I had to defend myself and tell them that it WAS for a kid, it was for my daughter who was in ballet class down the street. Like, why am I having to tell you any personal details? I ordered a kids meal. It’s smaller portions. Whether I have a kid or not, I shouldn’t have to defend myself to anyone. He tried to back step and says that people take advantage of the kids meal. Fine, but how is that my problem? Been coming here forever, have always ordered the same items, have ordered her lunch to go multiple times (I eat there too sometimes, but my order is complex bc of my allergy). All I wanted was to get her food to her before they started lunch (they get 30 minutes and she is a slow eater) at 12:00 pm. I felt embarrassed and frustrated by the time I walked out. They may have just been doing their job, but I shouldn’t have to offer up details about my life just to get my child her food. Maybe I shouldn’t just order delivery- no way to know if it’s a kid then either.
I don’t think I would have minded if they had just asked or confirmed, “You ordered a 12 and under kids meal, corrrect?” But no, the looks and the back and forth- if that’s how it’s going to be, then make it a policy that the kid has to be there or something. Or that a kids meal can only be purchased with an adult meal. If I know what the rules are in advance, fine, but don’t make me defend or question what I order.
I have enough points to get free stuff anyway (had enough to get their t-shirt too).
