An uncommon and exceptional restaurant. Extraordinarily creative and delicious sandwiches, and somehow nearly equally well crafted cocktails.

I had the pleasure of sampling these sandwiches:

* YOF B.E.C. (Lots of bacon, fluffy soft-scrambled eggs, melty cheese, Chili Crispy Mayo, mayo-forched round semolina roll, foil-wrapped, full-send) – otherworldly. If this a breakfast sandwich, it’s possibly the best I’ve ever had.

* CHICKY PEP Ν0 2 (Nonna-style chicky cutty, pep bolo, various Italian cheeses, Italian-style garlic Duke’s Mayo, roasted long hots, OG breadstick dust, soft roll) – formidable and bursting with flavor in multiple dimensions.

* THE RPG (ROTATING SANDWICH – Char siu roast pork, garlic Duke’s Mayo, pickled bok choy, hot duck sauce, soft roll) – see above

I also had the Celery Gimlet cocktail (gin, celery shrub, lime) and it was delightful.

Service was excellent. The spot has a takeout area and a bar and some 2 and 4 top tables.

Can’t wait to return.

In my mind I’m goin‘ to Carolina, but in DC I’m goin‘ to Your Only Friend. When I die, bury me under the stained glass Duke‘s Mayo shrine above the bar.

This place is out of control! It’s an explosion of flavor, fun, and good southern vibes. The Cacio e Pepe fries and the accompanying dip are better than the best crack cocaine. I’ve enjoyed both the sub club and the hot nug, with a little kick that will keep you sweating but coming back for me.

I cannot recommend this place enough if you are around the Mid DC convention center district. The staff is helpful, accommodating, and the nods to North Carolina culture (AB pie, dukes mayo) make me feel like I’m right back at home.

Awesome food, awesome drinks, awesome vibes.

Spent several hours here trying a couple sandwiches and a few drinks. My wife and I split the RPG (rotating sandwich) and the Sub Club. The RPG was amazing- they HAVE to add this to the normal menu. Sub Club was also very good, more classic sandwich.

Cocktails were all interesting and worthwhile. They do not cut corners- you’ll get a coke in a glass bottle, they make their own soda and will see them carbonating it during a Saturday afternoon to prep for the evening.

Bartenders were super friendly!

Immediately yes. I just had the best sandwich of my life there, the Chicky Pep No.2. It’s too good.

Thankfully, Your Only Friend has been on my foodie radar (and my friends list) for a few years now! Their sandwiches are seriously good. I recently stopped by while I was in the area for a work event, and it’s always my go-to spot whenever I’m near the Washington Convention Center.

The last time I visited, several months ago, I tried to order my favorite—the RPG, an Asian-inspired roasted pork sandwich bursting with flavor. I’m convinced it’s the combination of garlic mayo and duck sauce with perfectly roasted pork. I rarely eat pork, but I always make an exception for Your Only Friend. The sandwich is MESSY to eat, so make sure to get plenty of napkins. Thankfully, it was worth any mess!

Your Only Friend is a casual, unassuming spot, and I was so excited to hear it recently received a Michelin star ⭐️. Foodies know that’s a big deal! Huge congratulations to the Your Only Friend team!

When I stopped in the other day, the whole place had a vibe. Great music, happy staff, and that unmistakable energy of people who love what they do. The menu is simple but fun—each sandwich has a clever name like the Caul Me Maybe (roasted cauliflower) or the Mort & Mootz (mortadella and mozzarella).

They also offer snacks and a few drinks, rounding out the experience.

If you’re craving a well-made sandwich with a laid-back vibe, even if your friend circle is big, make sure to stop by Your Only Friend.

In addition to the take out area, there is a bar with some booth seating as well, with fun sandwich-themed decor.

Your Only Friend is such a quirky, fun little gem—exactly the kind of spot that makes DC’s food scene exciting. The vibe is playful and creative, and the menu completely delivers on flavor. I tried one of their over-the-top sandwiches and it was incredible—huge, flavorful, and totally unique. The cocktails were just as fun and thoughtfully made, with unexpected twists that totally worked. The staff were friendly and clearly love what they’re doing, which makes the whole experience even better. It’s the perfect place to try something new, kick back, and just enjoy yourself. Can’t wait to come back!

My friends grabbed me a sandwich to go, the Mort & Mozz sounded like it was really going to hit the spot. Sadly, it was the most anemic $20 sandwich I’ve ever seen. I know that “thin is in” again, but I’d didn’t think that trend applied to sandwiches. This was basically a sub roll filled with lettuce and hots with ONE piece of deli meat. Very disappointed.

One of my favorite spots in DC. Incredibly delicious sandwiches. Cocktails are good too. You can also get a $4 cold beer which is awesome. Beautiful stained glass ceiling. Excellent service. All around 10/10.
