The appetizers set a high bar, specifically the Chicken Yakitori. It was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and charred just enough to pull out those classic smoky flavors. If you’re looking for something a bit more unique and soothing, the Chawanmushi is an absolute must-try. As a savory egg custard, it serves as the ultimate comfort food, offering a silky texture and delicate flavor profile that is hard to find executed this well elsewhere.
For the main course, the Chicken Katsu Curry is a formidable choice. The portions are notably generous, ensuring you leave completely satisfied, but the real star of the plate is the curry itself. While many restaurants serve a strained, plain curry sauce, Yoshi prepares theirs with vegetables cooked right into it. This traditional touch adds a depth of flavor and a homemade heartiness that is unfortunately rare in most modern Japanese eateries.
Whether you are a seasoned fan of Japanese cuisine or a newcomer looking for a comforting meal, Yoshi delivers on every front. Between the exceptional service and the kitchen’s commitment to authentic details—like those veggies in the curry—it is easily one of the most consistent and enjoyable dining spots in the area.
The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can tell the team takes pride in what they serve and how they treat guests.
Highly recommend the Yoshi special roll, Unagi don, baked scallop roll and Dragon roll if you want something memorable. But every dish is perfection. It’s the kind of place that makes you linger a little longer over your meal.
Can’t wait to be back!
At that time, the restaurant was not busy, and there were several employees standing idle. This employee raised her voice at me, and we exchanged words while customers were still dining inside the restaurant.
When I had already confirmed the pickup and left the restaurant at 7:05 PM, she shouted at me to come back and return the order, challenging me and refusing to allow the pickup, even though I had already confirmed the order. This was dishonest and unprofessional.
Her attitude is unacceptable, especially for an employee working at a large sushi restaurant chain. Today I am a driver, but tomorrow I could be a customer. However, her behavior showed clear disrespect toward drivers. The restaurant should review and address the attitude of staff at this location.
We stopped by Yoshi Sushi and were seriously impressed with both the quality and variety. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful
Here’s what we tried:
Sashimi Special – So fresh! Generous cuts of tuna, salmon, yellowtail and more. Melt-in-your-mouth good.
Chirashi Don – A great variety of sashimi over perfectly seasoned rice. Super satisfying and well balanced.
Unagi Don – Comforting and rich, with warm eel glazed in sweet-savory sauce over rice. A must for unagi lovers.
Angry Dragon Roll – A spicy, crunchy roll with a kick!
Fried Dragon Ball – Deep-fried sushi goodness. Crispy outside, creamy and savory inside!
Service was quick and friendly, and everything came out at the perfect pace. You can tell they really care about quality here

This is a relatively new place in Downtown Los Altos with nearby free city parking. We went there for a weekday lunch and few others were present. We got seated right away and after reviewing the menu we ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer, Dragon roll for the wife and the Saba Shioyaki lunch for me. Service was fast and efficient.
The shrimp tempura had a batter only crust (no panko) so it was a little heavy but the shrimp was tender and sweet. Wifey was happy with her Dragon roll. My lunch plate also included 2 gyoza and 4 California roll slices. This is a pretty good deal if you can eat it all.
This place is definitely a good value with their pricing and quantity, definite repeat.

Repeated for lunch, they have great value lunch plates that come with California roll slices and pork Gyoza. Request white rice if you don’t like brown. My Saba was great and Wifey liked her Beef Teriyaki.
I ordered two special rolls and chirashi. The chirashi raw fish were not fresh at all. They appeared and tasted old. The fish was not springy and tasted slightly sour in the metallic way. The rolls tasted fine but when I took the fish off and tried it alone those also tasted bad and old. I also got tempura and received very thin and small pieces. The tempura tasted like it was refrigerated for a while because it smelled like a fridge. I don’t think the tempura was fried on the spot and may have been reheated. I think the raw fish may have been cut a few days ago and left in the fridge as well.
Will I buy from them again ? Absolutely !
We got the dream box and almost all the fish were too fatty, clearly not good quality sashimi. Feels like they sourced the cheapest cuts and served them. It was difficult to eat them because they were too fatty and I had an upset stomach for 5 hours after finished dinner.
The roll did not taste good either, the fish didn’t taste very fresh.
Chawamushi didn’t taste good
My genuine feedback to the restaurant is: please source better quality cuts, current quality is not acceptable for a 75 dollar box.
Price was ridiculous for the quality of fish.
Cons: the nigiri fish pieces are enormous, to the point where it’s off putting. I usually end up having to chop them in half with the chopstick, which is as awkward and embarrassing as it sounds. Not sure who trained the chefs but a 3” square nigiri is not appealing…
