We wanted a good, quick bowl of ramen and that’s just what we got here at Yokohama Iekei . Parking is very convenient as there’s a big lot just steps away from the restaurant and the interior is simple and cozy with great service. They offer some decent variety in bowls although we opted for their classic tonkotsu and shio ramens. The bowls are priced a bit higher but the food is certainly good which offsets that a bit.

Our bowls came very quick, we’re talking about just over 5 min or so for a party of 4 which was impressive. The food itself was pretty good considering the quick preparation. The tonkotsu broth is rich and deep with above average chashu that brings the bowl a little pop of flavor. The shio ramen is also nice and savory and comes with thick noodles unlike the tonkotsu’s thin noodles. The thick noodles are definitely better with a better chew so opt for those if you come in. The toppings are good, specifically the bamboo shoot but two areas they could improve on is the soft boiled egg, it felt a bit lacking in seasoning, and the setting. The price of the bowl was a bit high considering it felt like a very casual place to dine at. It’s by no means a bad setting, it’s just at that price point it didn’t feel like it aligned. Still, Yokohama Iekei is a good ramen place that’s more on the casual side, probably better suited for a casual date or hangout than any dinner or special night.

Pretty good ramen but small portions for the price.

I stopped by here for lunch before my movie and thought it’d be worth a try considering it was right next to the theater.

They have a good amount of options for food and also let you customize things like broth richness, spice level, and noodle firmness.

I got the Black Garlic Ramen and it came very quickly. It comes with an ok amount of noodles, a soy sauce egg, two small pieces of chashu, and some toppings, though for almost $20 I expected more of the non-protein toppings.

Broth was pretty flavorful and the noodles had a nice texture. Not the most exceptional bowl I had, but perfectly passable as a neighborhood choice.

Good Ramen, more expensive than it’s probably worth, but still enjoyable.

Yokohama Iekei is an authentic ramen restaurant. Both the chef and staff spoke Japanese. I had the black garlic ramen $18 with heavy soup and normal noodles texture. The toppings were garnishes. Tiny single pieces of green onion, fungus, bamboo and the dried seaweed was cut onto a small triangle with nothing below the soup level. The pork was good. It fell apart when I used my chop sticks on it on. The garlic pork broth had a slight bitter taste and a mild sweet aftertaste. On the tables, there are condiments like dried garlic flakes to customize the taste. It will add to the weak garlic broth. The ramen felt like the ones from the food carts (yatai) in Japan. In terms of size, I was still hungry when I left. Service was fast and friendly.

Hokkaido miso ramen.

The meat is extremely salty. Lots of noodles, very firm. It’s quite spicy even without asking to add spice. The soup is spicy enough that that was all I tasted?

I recommend cutting the eggs in half, improve presentation, and really cut down on the salt+spice.

This place serves the best ramen in the area. Each of the different soup bases is uniquely flavored and served at the perfect temperature. I tried the black garlic ramen and fried oyster. They were so good! Thank you

My Japanese friend recommended this ramen shop to me, he said it is the same as the ramen in Japan.

The climate in Daly city is very foggy, which is perfect for eating ramen. The fried octopus legs and fried oyster are delicious. I think the octopus legs are made from their own fried powder, which is quite delicious. The octopus legs are not small octopus legs but the upper part of the octopus legs’s texture is great !

All ramen can be chosen as thick or light, the noodles should be soft or hard, the soup has a strong flavor, the noodles with good texture , and the house-made pork belly Chashu is very soft and delicious.

Parking at next gate , no need ticket , easy to walk down , no fee .

Had some really delicious black garlic tonkotsu ramen here. The broth was extremely flavourful and rich with an assortment of toppings. They have a unique spicy ramen options available and it can get really spicy. A level 2 feels like a Buldak Instant Ramen for comparison. Took about 10 minutes to get our orders placed. They could use another server.

This was our first time there. Food was delicious and not expensive like other ramen places. The wait to take our order and receive our food wasn’t too long. However, there was only one cook and one waitress, and only 2 other tables. So I can only imagine service being a little stressful with a full house. I didn’t like that we were forced to sit at the bar when there were actual tables where we could have sat. I understand the place isn’t that big, but they were not busy at all from the time we came and left. I have neuropathy in my feet from chemo, so when I dangle my feet from a barstool, it’s very uncomfortable. The same exact tables were still empty when we left, and it would have been nice to be given an option. One thing I did like was that there were full ice water pitchers in front of us, so that I didn’t have to keep bothering them for water, since I drink a lot of it.

The search continues for a good ramen spot in Daly City. Although the broth was creamy and noodles were thick, everything I tried seemed to be lacking in….something, Servers were very attentive and nice. Plenty of parking in the adjacent, free parking garage.

Black Garlic Ramen ($16.98 + $0.99 mild spicy) – The egg was not marinated, and they seemed to be really stingy on the toppings. I only had a few bean sprouts and a sprinkle of green onions, maybe 2 bamboo shoots at most.

Jigoku Ramen ($16.98 + $0.99 regular spicy) – Same complaints as above. Also when they say it’s spicy, they mean spicy,

Karage Fried Chicken ($7.90) – Fried well but zero seasoning. I think they expect you to use the accompanying sauce, but it is too sweet for my liking.

Very authentic Japanese ramen. They do the little things right here. Perfect amount of fat to broth flavor ratio. Options to choose noodle firmness and broth richness. I tried the classic Iekei. Mix of chicken and tonkatsu.

Want to come back for the Tsukemen.
