Old school chicken restaurant. Good food and decent service. Found on atlas obscura and enjoyed our visit.

I had visited the town of Hartsville several years ago and ate at Yogi Bear Honey Fried Chicken and just had to get it again while I was in town for Lower State Wrestling matches. I told the coach about how good the food was so he brought the whole team along with some parents to. We were not disappointed! It was just as good this time as it was last time. I highly recommend you try this treat. It’s the last Yogi Bear Honey Fried Chicken restaurant in the country.

I had to fried chicken and french fries and both were pretty good period my wife had the catfish, coleslaw and baked beans.nShe said the catfish and baked beans were delicious. The banana pudding was okay. If you go there, come with patients, because the food is so good.A lot of people come there to eat and it may take a moment for your food to come up , but the workers work hard and really fast to get your food

GONE DOWN BAD!!
Took my mom here on 3/7/2026 and let me tell you, it was HORRIBLE…walking in and trash was all over the floor by the tables, I noticed NONE of the workers had on gloves and everybody looked so unprofessional. I still gave them a try because of what my family said. NEGATIVE…we ordered our food, my mom got a 3 pc keel meal with 2 sides of coleslaw and a tea, and I got the 2 pc fish ans shrimp combo with batter fried corn and rice and gravy. So, we decided to get our food and eat in the car since the dining area was so filthy. Upon opening our bag my mom notice she only had 2 pcs of chicken and no utensils…so I went back in to get those items and back to the car to eat…the shrimp was too salty and the fish…ugh, the rice taste like mush no flavor at all and the corn..NEVER AGAIN. I had really high hopes about this place maybe I went at the wrong time because it was just kids working in there, and thats not good because they did not care about nothing. Try at your own risk people.

Food taste like it been on the warmer since December of 2025. Chicken wings dry and tough. Fries cold as heck. Never will I ever go back there. I rather go to the wing spot up the street

Most of their business is done through the drive thru, so inside service is a bit weak. Food is old school southern fried chicken plus some other comfort food.
Worth the visit at least once because it is the only one left in the country, but every town in the South has a local small food stand that is as good or better without the novelty. Even the gas stations with a kitchen have chicken on par or better to sample.

I guess I should have gotten the fried chicken, but instead, I got gizzards. They were just OK. The fried corn was not good at all. I took one bite and ended up throwing the rest away because it had a real bad burnt taste to it. The Mash potatoes were like the kind you would get from a hospital cafeteria . The best part of my meal was the sweet tea.

My wife and I decided to take a little trip from Lake Wylie to eat here and it was worth it. Good prices and good food. We both got the 3 piece drumsticks meal and each got the battered fried corn while she got mac and cheese for her other side and I got green beans. All the food was delicious, the chicken was hot and crispy and that battered fried corn, shoot, that was right good let me tell ya! We also got a fried apple pie, man was it good too. Definitely some good eatin to be had here without needing to take out a second mortgage to pay for the meal.

We were in the area and thought it would be fun to give this place a try. Who doesn’t love Yogi Bear?! The parking lot was full when we arrived and we noticed a lot of folks eating their food in their vehicles. Stepping into the restaurant is like going back in time to the 1970’s. While waiting at the counter to order, we saw the staff was friendly and seemed to know everyone as locals/regulars. I ordered the three piece drumstick meal, which was accompanied by two sides and a roll, and my date had the three piece dark meal. Note that they do not have unsweet tea – or at least, were out of it while we were there. The fried chicken was very good! I didn’t feel it was sweet at all and it is served with honey on the side if that is your preference. The sides were not great. Between the two of us, we tried the mash/gravy, green beans, mac and cheese, and the coleslaw. The green beans were served southern style – which means they basically dissolve in your mouth and you don’t have to chew. The mac and cheese was overly peppered, and the coleslaw was a bit too tangy for me and had a very fine dice. I love crinkle cut fries, and wish I would have tried those instead. It’s hot in SC…and people were probably eating their food in their vehicles because it was 84 inside this restaurant. I would have the fried chicken again, but as takeaway.

The chicken was pretty good, though my boyfriend wasn’t too impressed by the fish. Sides were also just ok, nothing to write home about. But the atmosphere was cute, and they were definitely packed for lunch. Definitely worth a stop at least once.
