My family visited their buffet on a Friday evening. In addition to a full salad bar, along with ham, baked fish, pot roast, and baked and broasted chicken every day. Every evening they have nightly specials. Friday night was all you can eat prime rib, baked salmon, and multiple seafood items.
The salad bar was excellent, the roasted chicken was perfect, and the prime rib was cut to order. Austin, the hot bar chef expertly cut me a piece to order, at well over an inch and a quarter thick! It was fabulous done at medium rare and equally delicious.
You also have the ability to order off the menu if you’re looking for a lighter meal.
I’d highly recommend this place, breakfast and dinner are amazing and the price is more than reasonable.
The first time- great! We live about an hour away and weren’t expecting to stop here … we didn’t even know about it. It was a Friday around 12-1pm. Service was great. Waitress was very nice. Food was memorable in a good way. It was pretty busy, but that didn’t change anything since everything is basically self serve.
Onto the second time, today- we went around 3pm on a Wednesday. It was my husband’s birthday and he asked to come here (bonus that his meal was free for his bday!). While his meal was free, the whole experience was thrown off. Yes, we came at an odd time- 3pm on a weekday, but there was only one other table of two in there with us. No grill going (prior there were fresh burgers, pierogi, corn cakes, etc), the food you could tell had been sitting for sometime and the choices seemed much more limited. My husband did still enjoy the fried chicken, though. We were seated close to where the food was and we could see every 5-10 minutes the Buffett/food assistant lift the steamer trays from the buffet to let the steam up.. I know this is probably protocol, but all I could think of was them lifting it to create steam to make it look more appealing, because it really needed it. All-in-all, it was still decent for only having to pay for one meal between the both of us, but if it wasn’t my husband’s birthday and we paid for both of us, it would’ve been disappointing.
Additionally, during our visit today today the atmosphere seemed off. Right outside the entrance door two people were yelling/arguing/cussing at each other. It seemed like there was maybe a bus that just dropped people off and there was a bunch of people just sitting on the benches inside passing time, but none really seemed friendly.
I went to the bathroom before leaving and a lady had a grocery cart in the bathroom propped up between the bathroom stall so you could see her going to the bathroom?? So odd and so gross that a grocery cart was even in there.
All that to say, while we really did enjoy our first visit, I don’t know that we would come back again. Too many things were off with this visit and it’s not worth the hour drive anymore.
Now the food. Nice salad bar with a fair amount of options that were nice and fresh. Choices were sparse, some items looked like they came from a frozen package. Turkey in gravey was Trukey Roll (gross) and was a hard pass. Other items were very basic and bland. The highlight was the U Peel shrimp and the fried butterflies shrimp. The carving station was sparse in choice as it only had Beef Brisket, fried fish and corn fritters all of which was OK.
Desert. Desert left a Lot to be Desired as the pastry selection was a few odd choices of cakes, I found No pies. They had hard ice cream of which what they dipped for me must have been there for weeks as it was Freezer burned and unedible. Their soft serve was obviously something wrong with the machine as it came out as slow as molasses in January an was basically Ice Milk. They had toppings and puddings too.
In all for the price, one would do better elsewhere and the overall food experience was a letdown and definitely Not worth a return visit. Sorry Yoder bit you should do better.
