The experience of going to this place was not pleasant at all. The two waitresses are older, the one with white hair tied up in a ponytail was very sweet. But the one with short hair like a bob was very rude. Every so often she was scolding us like she was our granny, but not in a cute way but in a way that she had the right to. The other lady served us our tea in lazy sunnan and we understood we could leave them there. Well, some of the tea fell and we cleaned it up and asked for more napkins to have when eating. Well, the one with short hair arrived and scolded us for spilling and having things in the lazy Susan. She told us that if we do it again we would have to leave. We explained to her that we understood the other lady that it was not a problem to have it there. But that we understand that there are people who do it on purpose (as she explained to us that there are people who get there and they just spill stuff on purpose). Although we understand she keeped on scolding us with a very bad attitude. When it was time to order while we were reading the menus, some of my classmates folded the menus when turning the page and she didn’t like it either because she said they could break. We understood her and we no longer did it, but again she did not tell us in a kind way. When the time came for me to decide to order a platter that is for two people (I made it on purpose because I liked everything it included and what I had left over I was going to take with me) you would have seen the face she made. She said “YOU wou want that dish for two people?” By this point I was already tired of her attitude. She told me, “That’s a lot of food.” I told her “Yes, I want it. It’s okay, if I don’t finish it, I’ll take it with me.” But she criticized me so much for having chosen that. We were a group of 5 and we had other acquaintances at other tables who told us when they left that they were also being scolded by her every so often. The restaurant wasn’t even full so they couldn’t be stressed from having a lot of work. Well we ate and the food was nothing special. It wasn’t gross, but personally, I have had Chinese food way better than this. When she brought us the food she put it in the lazy susan but she scolded us for having it there. But there was not enough space on the table to put everything on the side! Hardly enough, each one had their own dish, plus we all wanted to share the food and so in the lazy sussan it was easier (that’s what they were invented for). She took dishes from us without even asking us if we had finished. And in the end we stayed for a while just talking without eating and she passed by and told us something that implied that we could go now. If it were a day with a lot of people and also if they were already going to close we would understand. But it was neither one nor the other the case. I emphasize that the one with white hair in a pony tail was always kind to us, but the one with short gray hair was very rude. It did not leave us wanting to return.

The food is always good but Marilyn and her family is what sets this place apart from every other place ever. I could be gone a year(or 17) and she remembers my name my favorite orders and makes it fun at the same time. Classic dining area and I always rub the Budda at the front door

Oriental atmosphere. Fantastic service and food. Truly enjoyed our eating experience. I’d go back! I had the special noodles with shrimp. Great flavor and plentiful shrimp! And generous serving, had some to take home. Waitress even explained how to reheat to prevent the shrimp from getting rubbery!

Hard to describe this place’s vibe other than from the moment we walked in, I was expecting the enchanting waitress/owner to come out from the back of house and bring out a special fortune cookie that would either turn me into a cat or make me swap bodies with my daughter. Dingey, but intimate. Old, but mystical. Food was top notch. We ordered hot/sour soup, the appetizer sampler and sesame chicken. It was so much food! The soup was best we ever tried, such a rich broth with beansprouts that remained crisp, as they mingled with large pieces of shrimp, tofu, mushroom and bits of pork.

We were treated like royalty, with service fit for a King! Our dishes were brought out quickly & were divine. Everyone working in the dining room checked on us readily. These folks are kind and loving souls!

Absolutely amazing. Service was great. They are so friendly and personable. They knew most of the people who came in to dine or for take out and was so pleasant to see them interact with their customers.

Marilyn is truly wonderful! She remembers you and exactly what you like to eat there after only waiting on you a few times. The food here is very good and the restaurant is a DeKalb institution.

The food was terrible I ordered off the lunch and no soup was offered or tea I had to ask for that. Once I received my food it wasn’t good at all the rice was stiff and dry the Mongolian chicken didn’t taste to done. The price of a can pop was $2.80 each which to be honest is a little pricey especially seeing you don’t get a refill. The owner is slow and rude. The washroom wasn’t to clean nor the dishes. Just a bad experience
